And these are "Christians," right?

Well, Jesus said you will know a Christian by his fruit, and the fruits of Christianity are:

Love,
Joy,
Peace,
Patience,
Kindness,
Goodness,
Faithfulness,
Gentleness,
and Self-control.

(Galatians 5:22-23)

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion

I.e. "Dear World: we are lying out our collective wazoos to keep from getting wiped out by our nice Muslim neighbors."

It is very common in the christian world for people to make such accusations even against each other. How many christians have you heard say that the catholic church in Rome is of the devil?

Quite a few in my own Church alone. However these people are enaging in a very un-Christian way, and I call them on it.

Listen to any christian talk show and you will hear christians saying that the teachings of some other christians are false or from the devil or satanic. So, I wouldn't worry about such statements from one man.

Well these people are not true Christians IMHO. Any one who calls the religion of our Savior Satanic, is not a true Christian either.

It bothers me more that some people, like you, question the christian faith of these people because they are arabs or because they're oriented towards being opposed to israel in this struggle. You called them 'christians' as if they're not really christians.

I have nothing against the Arabic race. I have a friend in my Church who is of Arab descent (admittedly he is white, but it would not matter). Most Arab Christians left those God forsaken wastelands long ago, millions of them live in the US. Thosen who are left have either converted to Islam outright, or changed their Christianity to suit their Muslim masters. So what's left is no longer really Christianity. This I have heard from my Arab friend and I trust him.

Well from their description the "Roman Orthodox Church" certainly aren't in communion with the E.P. or any of the rest of us who are.

I beg to differ with you, however, concerning the existence of a Western Rite in Holy Orthodoxy, the Holy Synod of Antioch has authorized two Western Rite liturgies--the Divine Liturgy of St. Gregory, based on a pre-Tridentine Roman rite, and the Divine Liturgy of St. Tikhon, being a version of the Anglican Prayerbook liturgy incorporating the corrections proposed by the Holy Synod of Moscow in response to St. Tikhon's query during his talks with the Anglican Bishop Grafton of Fond du Lac. (St. Tikhon refered the question because there seemed substantial doctrinal agreement between Holy Orthodoxy and the Anglo-Catholic version of Anglicanism represented by Bp. Grafton.) These seem to exist primarily as a pastoral tool for congregations seeking to flee the Western apostacy: most missions and parishes organized as Western Rite seem to eventually change over to the traditional (Eastern) Rites of the Orthodox Church.

The Old Calendarists also have a Western Rite based on the Sarum Missal, which grimly delights me, as it serves under Ukranian Old Calendarist bishops (counter-unia!).

Thank you for the information on the western rites. Put this away and save it for a few days -> (Kristos Voskrese!)

I know that a little work will need to be done on the issue of Papal Infallibility, but where there is a will, there is a way (just don't ask me how!)

I dearly love and enjoy you and several other members here on FR of our "other lung", as my fellow Christians. The unity you speak of would be awesome to witness in our lifetimes. Perhaps with prayer and God, as all things are possible with God.

Amen! We need to concern ourselves with the things of permanent value. Between the islamic threat, and the rise of neo-paganism in the west, I fear a terrible darkness is descending upon the world, worse than at any time since the advent of Our Lord. My homepage refers to this from a secular and historical viewpoint, but evil seems to grow, virtually without bounds.

I do not despair of God's grace, but this does not mean that he will preserve our society. As someone who has a background with the terrible loss of Byzantium in your consciousness, you know that the west's survival is no more guaranteed than that of the lost society of the Eastern Empire.

perhaps you are right michael; the term 'satanic' was certainly excessive. I hope that the 1 priest who used that term meant that only some were behaving in that way or something like satanic.

I certainly meant no insult to anyone as well.

It was from my fellow Orthodox, such as this one that I was fearful of Islam many, many years in advance of 9-11. I used to hand this article out to friends and family back in the late 90's and they all thought I was nuts for worrying about the growth of Islam in this country

Wow! This is a MUST READ, it's short but hits home.

As I read about how westerners parroted the anti-Serb propaganda in the '90s, I had to admit I was one of them myself. As the author writes, "no one is forced to believe what CNN says is true."

I am so glad you liked it. It is my favorite read of all time. Actually a tad prophetic, isn't it?

CNN did a real number on this country.
Imagine my sadness ( and satisfaction, I admit) to see that the West now does understand.

the family next door are Palistinian Christians, they left after the Israelis garrisoned, then demolished their home and business some years back.

Not the nicest place to be a Christian consitering virtually everyone wants to kill you.
