A bill that could change the way sex education is taught in schools was the subject of a bizarre debate Wednesday in the state Senate.
Supporters want to eliminate a portion of state law that bars teachers from promoting homosexuality and to ensure that the sex curriculum is medically accurate. Conservatives were furious about the idea, and quoted directly from federal sex education materials they said could be used in Arizona schools if House Bill 2249 passed.
