At one time, the little miscreant would have been thrashed soundly, made to clean up his mess and that would have been the end of the matter.

Ms. Thompson said she plans to talk with Toledo police today about filing criminal charges in the case.

I should hope so.

There are still parts of this Earth where situations like the one above still happen.

To a child hater, acting like a normal kid = brat.

ALL walk in freezers have a handle on the inside to open the door for exit. Either the kid was too stupid to use it or they baracaded it closed. No mention of baracading in the story. So they left that part out or the kid is a total moron.

Ummm, most cafeteria workers are uneducated and many with shady backgrounds I suspect. Its not a good idea to have people with low IQ's punishing children. The kid should have been sent to the principal's office and made to clean up the mess. Of course lately school administrators have demonstrated bad decision lately as demonstrated by the poor handling of the whole thong panty insepction fiasco in Cali.

Service workers in a school should not have non-authorized authority over children. Despite the tendancy to like the idea of a misbehaving 10 year old being "sent to the cooler" like in the Great Escape, logic tells me that from such horseplay tragedy can occur. Let's stick to prudent policy and administration in public settings and institutions.

Low blood sugar level right now, I need to get lunch. Hopefully I won't get locked in the freezer.

Frankie said the cafeteria worker grabbed him by the neck, walked him past other pupils into the kitchen, where she put him in the walk-in freezer and shut the door.

Why didn't they just take him straight to the principal's office?
