No, you are mistaken. That is not what Le Pen said:
His wealth of past statements do not leave much room for doubt. The biggest scandal arose in wake of a 1987 interview in which he was asked about the Nazi gas chambers: "I'm not saying that the gas chambers didn't exist. I couldn't see them myself. I haven't devoted any special study to the subject, but I believe it is just a detail in the history of World War II." When asked to elaborate about this "detail" in 1997, Le Pen explained: "If you take a thousand-page book about World War II, the concentration camps would take up two pages and the gas chambers would take up 10 to 15 lines. That's what I call a detail."That was a recent interview (just two weeks ago). He's said many other racist things, he's no good. If you think he's not a racist, you're mistaken.
Well if that the way ge wants judge..... since the book is a thousand pages and the war lasted over four yeas and France only lasted six weeks then I guess France's contrbution to the fight would only be a small foot note at the bottom of the page. Or perhaps something illegible written in the margin.
It may be insensitive, but isn't that a factual statement? I have read a lot of books about world war II, and very few discuss the holocaust. I would bet that if you took all the books written about WW2, that for most, the holocaust would generate only a few lines of discussion. We just don't know the context here. LePen could have been talking about WW2, and then asked a detailed question about the holocaust, to which he gave the above reply which is just saying "I don't know that much about it".
