Sorry to say this, but Don Imus did Drew even one better. I still wonder why the Clintons invited him - they should have known better. They were positively fuming. The only disappointment was that Imus gave a half-hearted apology later on.

How about this little snippet from the DU...

"Americans are not supposed to know how EVIL our government really has become under Bush and his cabal of goons. We might start getting funny ideas about overthrowing the despot in the White House, by force of arms if need be."

So, these anti-gun sissies that think competetive sports should be banned are going to come after BUsh and the GOP? LOL! What are they going to do, shout slogans at us! :D

No, they would never resort to actually using firearms to get what they want. Annoying demonstration after demonstration? Sure. Breaking windows? Of course, its not like they have any respect for people's property.

Actually, I think Norm McDonald lost his SNL newscast gig after repeatedly repeatedly repeatedly calling OJ Simpson a murderer a number of times on each newscast. NBC East Coast head Don Ohlmeyer, a buddy of OJ's, got sick of it and ordered him off the newscast. McDonald stayed around for a few more weeks as a regular cast member then left the show.

His ABC sitcom, produced by Drew Carey's production company, was canceled by ABC not long after his appearance on The View that askel5 linked to, the one where Norm scandalized Babs et al by calling Clinton a murderer.

Anyone in favor of imprisoning other people solely for ingesting substances not tho their liking would indeed fit under the definiton of Puritanical.

bet you used to watch Mystery Science Theater 2000

2000? The show was always called Mystery Science Theater 3000, from its first airing on KTMA in Minneapolis and through its ten years on cable. (And one theatrical release.)

Anyone in favor of legalizing dope and thereby creating an inevitable Dutch-style nanny government of turnstile rehab funded by money confiscated from other citizens would indeed fit under the definition of socialist.

And any liberdopian who would deny that this would happen, would fit under the definition of terminally stupid.

If the definitions fit, wear them proudly, liberdopian.

Keep us posted. I always enjoy hearing about it when the DUers are in a tizzy.

Yes, I have been reading the comments at the DUmpster. They are tying their panties in a knot over this!

Sorry - didn't log back on til now - and Cspan did replay the dinner again starting at 2 PM. I watched it again. The President really did a great job. The Hillary Clinton joke was the funniest of them all - but the Barney at the window shot still was priceless. All the WH insiders standing and peering through the peep hole into the Oval office was funny too, esp of the "Vice" as President Bush calls him sometimes. Drew Carey had some funny things to say but also had some "bombs".

I was still miffed that while Carey notice Colin Powell and Gen. Franks, he failed to notice Rumsfield. Hmpfh! I am sure Rummy's ego got over it already....but it was a bit if a shun.

The very best part was Carey comparing our effort to convince the Arabs that Osama bin Laden really authored the attacks against America - to the effort to convince the Demonrats that they lost!

Carey's f...you snarl and Mary Matelin's look of dismay (I bet he spews his venom in her presence and I bet she knew he was going to be hissing later on) were something to behold.

But most of all, our President looked so first class, serious but with good humor, it was a joy to behold and to remember how it could have been Algore up there.........!!!

Are you still here? Still unable to comprehend the socialist nature of your drug war? Still incapable to think or reason critically, or for that matter do much of anything except spout empty-headed invective?

Sad, really.

you are aware that someone can be against drug legalization without wanting to imprison every drug user, right? It is interesting that you infer from my post disageeing with Drew Carey's position that I am a strict law-and-order type bent on imprisoning all those who use drugs. What if I prefer decriminalization to legalization of drugs? Would I still fall under your definition of "Puritanical?" Or do you just enjoy tossing around this epithet lightly?

K. Curry--Kudos to you! You're the only person I've ever heard articulate this argument other than me! Legalizing drugs under the current political regime we have in the US would lead almost inevitably to taxpayers funding the repair of the mistakes made by drug users. I will never entertain the notion of drug legalization until the threat of socialized health care has been banished from the poltical scene first. To a large degree, I can tolerate another's choice to do drugs; what I WILL NOT do is become an insurer for the risks they so blithely undertake!

As that was a conditional statement, I left open the possibilty you favored such half-measures.

Am I to understand then that you're in favor of ditching the current regime?

"I can't favor freedom because our rulers are statist" isn't much of an argument after all . . .

Darn! I missed it again, and I was trying to keep an eye out too! I had to go run an errand and just got back. Will it be on again tonight, do you know? I caught Drew Carey before but only the last part of the president.

isn't Drew Carey a Marine and an avid gun collector?

Don't know about the gun collector part but he was in the Marine Reserves for 5 years. Matt Lauer (sp?) on PMSNBC did one of those profile shows on him today. Very interesting.

Looks like it will be on CSPAN2 at 8am eastern on Monday. But there is a 4 hour block saying TBA from 8pm until midnight tonight on CSPAN2, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 hour show is broadcast again tonight. Then at midnight on CSPAN 1 they'll show Tony Blair taking questions in the House of Commons, which is always a fun show, love that British wit.

ROTFLMAO!

You know, I can not believe the DU is that messed up. I can not find ONE dissenting opinion on the entire website.

HEre is yet another snippet...

"If you can read Chap 1 of M.Moore's "Stupid White Men" without envisioning the heads of Bush, Harris, Scalia, and Baker on pikes, grinning in rictus and dripping their brains on the pavement, you're not alive... The problem is, once you take the critique seriously, once you tumble to the whole corrupt, venal, illegitimate, illicit scheme, the only REAL choice is REVOLUTION, with violence if needed... Which is an alternative which the comfortable will reject, even at the cost of their consciences and principles..."

I hate to say this because I am a peaceful guy but I wish they WOULD rise up because there is no reasoning with these people. They probably say the same thing about us but the difference is, I DONT want to control anyones actions. They are seeking to take my freedom. The funny part is that they actually call me a Fascist.

I say to them, BRING IT ON!!!
