Sounds more like a 'jobs program' than education to me.

The proof that I'm old isn't the grey hair, and it isn't wrinkles.

The REAL proof is that I managed to get through elementary and high school without ONE standardized test.

When my oldest encountered her first CAT, it was presented one day, they took the test and that it was it.

By the time the middle child reached 4th grade, two weeks were devoted to "preparing" for the test.

By the time the youngest was in 9th grade, it seems the whole school year was devoted to said "preparation".

Needless to say, oldest child actually learned more.

Parents have a responsibility in the public education system of America.

A shrinking responsibility as you and your predecessors continue to give more power to the federal government. Washington has a responsibility to not meddle with parents and their schools.

They want the parents to teach, so they can train.

This sounds like a largely immigrant school. It also sounds like a lot of money is being wasted on "bilingual education." What happened to the old practice of letting immigrant kids learn English "sink or swim?" What about their parents giving up speaking German or Italian at home so the kids would learn English? WE shouldn't be paying more taxes for all these services just so immigrant kids can avoid immersion in English.
