[history]
Native American groups in California are pushing legislation which would make California the first state in the country to banish all Indian team mascots from public schools.
The measure would ban team names such as the Redskins, Apaches and Comanches, names that some say are culturally insensitive. A pair of education commissions would act as arbiters of mascot taste if the measure passes.

If this catches on, the state of Indiana could be in big trouble.

Now will come the people asking that animal names be removed; tigers, lion, bengals eagles. Only kidding, i hope.
To: vannrox
So, what will the punishment be for schools that refuse to change their name? Shut them down? Defund them? What? If I were a school board member in a district with one of these names, I'd "just say no."

I'm sure these morons can think of plenty of penalties without really trying. They are Fascists by nature.

Dude, my high tech Indian buddies Raj, Chandra and Ravi are not gonna like having to change their names!
To: daiuy
The Ashville Assissis? The Passaic Patricks? Never mind being called the "Johns" or the "Peters"......
To: vannrox
Hey, no problem. If the Native Americans don't want the honor, just go in the other direction, say: the Bakersfield Crocketts, the Sacramento Boones, the San Mateo Bridgers, the Los Altos Custers, and -- for that Movieland tie-in -- the Hollywood Dukes.

Don't forget Ohio. Plus all the rivers that should be renamed because they are Indian names (Allegheny, Susquehanna, Kanawha, Monongahela, etc.).
To: vannrox
Monache Marauders was my highschool, still is. I think all the Monache's are dead now, so they don't care.

"Hollywood High Sheiks" is that for real.....lol

A pair of education commissions would act as arbiters of mascot taste if the measure passes. "Thought Police" will follow directly.
In Saudi Arabia, morality police patrol the streets to make sure that women met the dress code. The Taliban walked the streets with sticks and flogged those who didn't meet the dress code or whose beards were not long enough.
When will US society wake up and see that these are the actions of Fascists! This is the face of the "new left", they have become Fascists. They're all for free speech, as long as they approve of the speech. Tolerance means that you have to be tolerant of them, but they don't have to be tolerant of you.
"education commissions"! What next, "re-education camps"? It is time to stand up to these b*st*rds.

Georgia has a lot of Indian names for rivers. Chattahoochee,Oconee, Ogeechee, Altamaha, Etowah, Coosa
