The only way to upstage 9/11 is with nuclear.

Attacks on malls, banks, shopping centers would only demonstrate that Americans have a right to carry and will defend themselves (if you haven't got your CCW, please apply now, and use it).

Airplane attacks are now passe, every American on an airliner has a plan to whomp hijackers on the head with a laptop computer (at least this one does).

Biologicals and nukes are the remaining alternatives. For a country providing, say, smallpox, the danger is that you'll eventually be infected, making this a less-than-optimal choice.

So back to nukes. Obviously the best choice.

But we've put several source countries on warning that if the U.S. is nuked, they're now on the target list. Of course it was all denied, but what's the difference? If we're attacked, then China, Russia, Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Libya and Syria go down. Denied or not, the leak was intended to inform. And informed they now are.

Do you think the Islamists are more convincing to these nuclear regimes than the U.S.? I don't.

"The Pentagon has described as misleading a published report asserting the White House had directed the US military to prepare contingency plans to use nuclear weapons against China, Russia, Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Libya and Syria."

It must not be entirely comforting to the rulers of Iraq, Iran, Libya and Syria that if a nuke explodes in the U.S., then they lose their capitols.

Is this article credible or sourced? I find nothing here.

How 'generalized' is this warning?

Sounds like another CYA warning.
They don't have clue but when the fit hits the shan they can say we were warned.

And I do mean nuclear.

I don't think they have nukes(yet) but they may have a "dirty nuke" bomb or chem-bio weapons which would be bad enough.

always loved the description of RIDGE "appearing like a deer caught in the headlights". borders, visas continue to allow the swarms....wish i had the bucks for my relocation-now, not later ....

Well if thousands more die in another massive attack, remember, our open border, immigration "free for all" is what will allow the enemy to conduct their operations. I too believe this is going to happen, as the government has allowed hundreds of thousands, even many millions into our country, and they have not a clue, who these people are, where these people are, or even what these people are doing here.

Since 911 nothing serious has been done. I honestly thought that by midnight on 9-12-01 the borders would have been sealed as best possible, and that an immediate freeze on people obtaining visas into this country would have been put into effect. When this didn't happen, I was stunned!

Day after day....warnings from gov't and intel. Is it just me or is this getting stupid. Just do your damn jobs and stop the event. If you can't stop it and something happens.....oh well! What good does it do to warn us unless there is some specific action we can take. But all these vague "warnings" seem to have a different purpose than to protect us........

I'm worried about the Indianapolis 500, personally. (I live within a few minutes of the race-track.) 400,000 visitors from all over the world, the world's largest single-day sporting event, in the heartland, on Memorial Day, featuring the drunken debauchery of one night of Mardi Gras, in the nation's 11th largest city, a locked Ryder truck can be parked anywhere within a mile of the track for $20, and we have the largest mosque in America 25 miles to the west.

OK, which color is this one, puce or magenta? Honestly, they come out with these dire warnings every 3 weeks or so, and what the heck can anyone do about it anyway? I do believe that government could screw up a one-car funeral. They can't even protect us from fuzzy foreigners, so what do they do other than bleed us of all our money?

We need to let the Islamic world know, in advance, so that there is no misunderstanding, that if a nuke goes off in an American city, Mecca will be turned to glass and ash by the next day.

That is something we could and should do. It is, as you say, a humane and civilized thing to do. No matter how much kerfuffle got raised from such a statement- Dubya should get on national television and say that right into the camera. The lefties, the UN, the EU, the Arab world and PETA would probably go nuts but, it would be out there and nobody could say they didn't know what was coming to 'em when they got nuked.

The next best thing would have been (and I hope it happened) for Dubya to have told the Saudi leader he just had to his ranch in no uncertain terms that that is exactly what will happen and for him to go back and tell all his jihad, Islam brothers the news. That approach is more diplomatic and would avoid a lot of hell being raised, but less effective IMO. Bin Laden might just say "Bollocks! I don't believe it!" and detonate his nuke anyway. If Dubya did it on television, people would know he was serious.

That would have some powerful deterence value.

The war on terror is equally the War to create terror so you'll all be good people and give away your liberties the Patriot act wasn't even read before passing, other posters have the right idea,'you' are responsible for your security, preparation, alertness and if all else fails '**it happens'...NBC attacks have been possible for over 60 years, theres no change in the dynamic,in fact during the 50's and 60's Id bet the KGB had stuff from coast to coast.

I cannot believe it is a matter of inability to defend ourselves. It is, however, a culture that makes it impossible to make the hard choices (i.e. profiling and denial of visas to immigrants from regions known to be terrorist friendly, including Saudi Arabia) and then follow through (i.e. swift arrest and/or deportation) which makes it inevitable.
