Sad.
But after so long, you wonder,
"Did it really happen?"

Well I suppose it could have happened. In my 12 years of Catholic school no nun, priest or lay teacher ever made any kind of sexual advance whatsoever. I just am amazed at these stories. Catholic school was strict but as years go by I am more and more grateful for that.

An odd story. Odd thought patterns and behavior patterns, especially from a social worker; especially from a social worker under the care of a psychiatrist. Interesting, but not enough here yet whether to believe or disbelieve.

I went to Catholic school from 1-8 with nuns. Our first grade class even had a sleepover at the convent (we were special;) None of us were ever touched or treated inappropriately in any way, ever.

I have to wonder at those who want to believe this is a widespread problem. While yes, it is a serious problem and concentrations of this problem seem to be occurring in certain areas, this dysfunctional behavior is still the exception rather than the rule.

BTW, there is an adage in the mental health field re kids and sex abuse. Girls 'seem' to be molested more but is believed that boys are molested as often or even more frequently than girls. The adage is "girls talk; boys don't".

This is at odds with this social worker's belief about 'good Catholic women' and what her experiences working with abused children should have taught her.

"The Abuse that knows no gender"

Perhaps these abuses don't have a gender in common, but they certainly have a perversion in common - virtually all are perpetrated by gays/lesbians.

I'd think it's past time the Church did some housecleaning.
