The Department of Education has placed restrictions on a popular Boy Scouts program in public schools after two groups complained about the Scout Oath's reference to God, as well as the organization's anti-gay policy.

Although Boy Scouts activities during school hours will be curtailed, the organization will be allowed to continue its Learning for Life program. The Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America has conducted the program in about 50 public schools for more than 25 years.

"They believe it's OK to discriminate," Golojuch said of the Scouts, "If that's the character building that they're teaching, we don't need that in our public schools."

Forced allegiance to liberal idealism is itself discrimination. I will not be forced to say "gay is okay", nor will I allow my child to be taught it is okay in violation of our moral and religious beliefs. PERIOD! Sometimes two ideals are mutually exclusive and it is not about discrimination. They need to focus as much on accomodating Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc... as they do on accomodating gays. (and I point out that school children are pre age of consent and being "gay" really should not be an issue --- not a single child in school is the product of a gay union either so leave an adult subject ot the adults)

Way back when I was in Girl Scouts, we had our meetings at our leader's home. Why can't the Boy Scouts tell the schools to stuff it and they can have their meetings elswhere?

Yep, it is a rather steep downhill, straight to Hell.

The groups also pointed to the Boy Scouts' national policy of prohibiting homosexuals from serving as adult leaders as a violation of the department's policy against discrimination.

So this makes it ok for the DOE to descriminate against the Boy Scouts? The DOE should just ignore the whining of the OOs (Offended One)s.

Fight back! Drop the "Gay" term and call them what they are! It's just a few extra syllables to say Homosexual or better yet use the new term to describe their illness, SAD, Same-Sex Attraction Disorder.

I think this is the Hawaii state Department of Education, not the federal one. Still, it is probably useless.

Does "Scouting for All" do anything other than try to shut down the Boy Scouts? Are any parents crazy enough to let their son go camping with a known homo?

The national BSA should prohibit any troop from meeting in public (government) schools. All Troops should affiliate themselves with churches. This would end the political correct Nazis from corrupting the Boy Scouts.

When I was in Scouting (1960's & 1970's) all the troops I knew of were church affiliated. I have never heard of a troop meeting at a school.

Scout "Patrols" and Cub "Dens", still meet in homes. The larger units, Troops and Packs meet in multi purpose type facilities as arranged by the Sponsoring Organization of the individual Scout unit.

Like other public groups, under utilized public facilities, like schools in the evenings, are often selected at little or no cost.

Many Scout Troops, less centered on a small neighborhood like a Cub Pack, meet in Churches.

The units in question range in size from 20 to 300 plus parents and siblings that may attend or help out.

Troops are also sponsored by Optimist Clubs, Sertoma Clubs, and similar civic organizations. They rely upon available public facilities like schools and city multi-purpose space.

When I wore my scout uniform to jr. high, I was called a "fag". Now as an adult leader, I wear the uniform and I am a racist, bigotted, homophobe. I was actually abused as a scout by a scout leader. He wasn't even Catholic, let alone a priest. We as adult leaders in today's Boy Scouting are taking great steps to protect our children. The DOE, or any other government agency can take a flying leap as far as I am concerned. We will even do without the United Way funding if it has to come with "gay" strings attached. Any Girl Scout leaders out there want me or any other hetero-male to take their teen-aged daughters camping?....I didn't think so.

The Boy Scouts are organized a bit differently from the Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts meet only as small troops of less than 20 girls. Service units have many more girls than that, but they rarely meet. Boy Scouts, on the other hand, meet as packs and troops consisting of 30 boys or more. My son's pack currently has 40 boys and will likely swell to 60 when school starts in the fall. Have you ever tried conducting a meeting of 60 boys in your house?

"The Boy Scouts as an organization should have no greater access to our schools for recruiting during the day," he said. "That kind of thing would not be permitted among other private organizations."

Well, I guess that does it for GLSEN and the other assorted sicko homo orgs. who have closed door school wide meetings in the auditoriums across the nation...............RIGHT?!

Why doesn't DOE (Dept. of mis-Education) go after the true hate groups like GLSEN and especially NEA??? They force descrimination against morals!

I agree except that homosexual depravity is not a disorder, it is a choice to be homosexual! It is not hereditary or a disease.

Reverse Discrimination! I propose that all homosexual ideas, promotion, discussion and activities be removed from public and government facilities as they discriminate against ME and others with my lifestyle.

You are right about it being a choice, homosexual describes a behavior just as smoker describes a person that smokes, but I believe that the choice of homosexuality is the result of a mental disorder.
