Yes, it definitely puts some strain on the US-India relationship. We have to somehow pursuade the Indians to hold back everytime, because we need Paki co-operation. That's enough reason for Pakistan to egg these attacks on.

Doesn't look good from an India POV. Imo we need to change this mode of thinking....quickly.

A final caveat needs to be sounded. The American desire to carry its 'war on terrorism' into Pakistani territory is an extension and indeed, continuation of their Afghan campaign. It has nothing to do with the government's own domestic battle against terrorism. Therefore, any unilateral US military action in Pakistan, as hinted by The Washington Post on May 12, would be a disastrous destabilization and severely undermine the government's own anti-terror efforts at home. The minimum quid pro quo for Pakistan's unstinted cooperation to the US 'war on terrorism' is to get the Americans to ask their Indian friends to back off from brinkmanship on the border. India's withdrawing its half a million plus troops would defuse tension and ensure that Pakistan can pursue its campaign against terrorism with single-minded focus.
From today's Nation paper of Pakistan.
