is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).

These people have lost it. There's a small local Presby church requesting to be released from PC USA in order to join a more conservative group. It's sad when this country yells about "rights" then knocks belief systems that don't agree with what's being portrayed as mainstream.

The Bible clearly teaches women are not to preach

Don't think so...actually women are not to be pastors. Big difference between being an evangelist and being a pastor. Let be accurate, here.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

What if it is a single woman or a woman whose husband is not born again?

for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

"What if it is a single woman or a woman whose husband is not born again?"

I think if you re-read the above verse you quoted, you will have your answer. If single females are not 'women' in the Bible, then what are they?

The Bible states a women is not to have rule over a man. IMO, this applies to public, political life also, since holding a government office is as much a ministry as being a preacher or pastor. Ecclesiastcal power and rule over anyone is an awesome power. A pastor, evangelist or preacher is in that position and that position is wisely reserved for men.

If a woman's husband is not saved, or born-again, she is to lead a quiet, godly and submissive life so she might win him ot the Lord. If the unsaved husband wants out of the marriage because she is a Christian, she should let him go. But she should not try to get out of the marriage because he is not saved.

And since you guys are looking for someone to flame, I'll state that a Christian husband and wife who divorce under no circumstance except death of one or the other, are they to remarry.

The Bible states women are to remain silent. Do women evangelists talk with sign language?

The Bible states no such thing. Paul told the women of Corinth to be quiet.

Utter the word "homosexual", and this scene flashes before my eyes...

Really? Does that scene also include the incest which follows? Where Lot's daughters get him drunk, then use him like a cheap dildo - not just once, but several times on successive nights?

Remember, it must be so, it's in the Bible.

... who has brought the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions. Watch out for that beam!

Billy Graham cracker has filled our churches with unregenerate souls who only think they are Christians because they filled out some card at some meeting. Yet in the lives of these people, very little has changed. Have you ever wondered how a nation which claims to be 70% or so 'Christian' votes scum like Clinton into office, then votes him in again? It's because they really aren't Christian

As for the 'beam', I have been saying the same thing about B.G. for 30 years.

Paul told the women of Corinth to be quiet.

I believe what Paul put in his books to Corinth apply to the rest of the church, too. We can't pick and choose what we want to accept in the Bible, rightly divide the Word of Truth.

During an address to about 500 women, she called homosexuality one of several sins from which man needs to repent.

seems this was a womens meeting outside of church property.

i agree that women should be quiet in a church setting, but this instance seems to be unaddressed by scripture.

A couple questions beg. Does your denomination allow women to speak in church, or do they wait until they get home? - rather does the Bible say regarding women in the end days?

Does your Church encourage speaking in tongues?

I don't belong to a denominational church, never have, never will.

The church I attend adheres to the Biblical teaching of women.

The speaking of tongues is to be accompanied with an interpreter. We speak English in our church. No, my church does not speak in tongues.
Now, what do all your questions have to do with anything on this thread?

If this was the scope of her ministry, no she's not in conflict with the Scriptures in this way. But I do believe she speaks as an evangelist to more than just women.

From the article: "During an address to about 500 women, ...". I think if you consider other scriptures, that the NT encourages a woman (Anne) to teach other women.

Considering that the issue of women teaching men is not one of the requisites for salvation (ie. the "essentials"), the point you make is not critical for believers to have a hard and fast position on. Also, considering Paul was speaking to a church in Corinth that was falling away from the basic beliefs of the church due to heavy social influence - I believe Paul was identifying for this church where the source of their problem was.

You make an absolute statement and proceed to pronounce that anyone who doesn't follow your view is not following God's Word. Yet you forget that God used women to speak to (and humble) men in many instances throughout the Bible. Who are you to put God "in a box" and say he can't use women to teach men? Some of the best lessons I've learned (in church and out) were by women, including my lovely wife. Christ used prostitutes, handicapped non-believers, military enemies, and broken "religious fanatics" to teach the world. He used anyone who suited his need to reach those that were lost.

So, tell me again, where does it specifically says that women should not teach men?

"...describes Seigle Avenue Presbyterian Church as an "inclusive congregation, diverse in race, economic condition, social background, sexual orientation and religious experience."

So many punch-lines, so little band-width...
