The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States, and the Colorado Constitution is, subordinate to the U.S. Constitution, the supreme law of the state of Colorado. By excluding these documents from his courtroom, Judge Patterson has decreed that he intends to rule by personal whim. No old charter written by a bunch of dead white European males, however revered by a bunch of know-nothing citizens who are good for nothing but paying his salary and cleaning his chambers, is going to get in his way as he determines what's best for all of us.

That is the coloration to give to this odious trial.

Freedom, Wealth, and Peace,

When Mr. Stanley was called by defense to testify, Judge Patterson questioned whether he really wanted to testify or not. The judge mentioned the Constitutional provision that guaranteed his ability not to testify, but when Mr. Stanley asked the judge to cite the provision the judge refused.

I think I found this passage just as interesting. The judge himself refused to quote the Constitution for fear that it would burn his tongue.
This story is absolutely shocking. Impeachment is in order - this judge is so arrogant as to say that he is above any written law.
