The Ultimate Response to the "Bush Knew" Smear (RNC please take note)
Source: Me | 05/17/2001 | By Laz

Okay people, I don't usually write one-line vanities, but I have what I consider the Ultimate Rebuttal to the smear that Bush knew about September 11 in advance.

Osama bin Ladin bragged that not even all the hijackers
knew where they were really headed.

If the actual perpetrators didn't know what was going to happen,
HOW WAS GEORGE W. BUSH SUPPOSED TO KNOW?

There you are, kids. In two sentences, this horrible smear by the DNC is destroyed. Take it it, run with it, hit the airwaves, write letters to the editor, go on the radio, get this message out.

Laz, your rebuke is excellent, but I've investigated crimes where the plan leaked out without the drone crooks doing the dirty work knowing the whole picture. Bank robberies done by gangs, for example. The street gangs would use pooh-butt wannabe's for the actual robberies, but keep those guys insulated from the overall strategies, surveillances, etc.

In this case, I am outraged that the left is making an issue of this, especially given Clinton's obscene lack of follow-up on all the info HE had. Again, I like your approach, but strictly speaking as the Devil's Advocate, it may have been possible for the plan to have leaked without all the low-level "pilots" knowing. At least one of the pilots on each plane had to know the targets, or the plan wouldn't have worked.

Oh yes, Lazamataz, just like most of the others in the past recent years. Blowing up a couple hundred Marines with that moving truck bomb was another genius operation, huh?

Yes it was. In terrorism, genius is defined by success.

Besides, how could we possibly expect our massive intelligence agencies to figure out that a hugh, fuel filled, aircraft could ever be used as a weapon. Boy, who would ever think of that? That's really thinking out of the box, huh Laz?

Well, Joe, since you are such a cutting-edge terrorism analyst, I expect you will be applying to NSA or CIA, and that they will be thrilled to have you! Within two years of joining, Joe, undoubtably all terrorism directed at the United States will be foiled. Go get 'em, tiger!

Still no excuse for the CIA not to know what's going on.

Even if it means they have to bug every camel's butt in the mideast. The ineviatble alternative is nuclear armageddon.

Since you just tied the knot, I think this applies to you more.

No offense Laz, but I had to laugh at you thinking this was cutting-edge terrorism analysis.

From the terrorist perspective, yes.

Having respect for the capabilities of a foe is a necessary precondition for successfully fighting same.

Let me ask you this one question: on September 10th, 2001, would you have, without outside prompting, included deliberately flying an aircraft into a large building as a probable (not possible, probable) terrorist attack method? In other words, if asked to write a list of likely terrorist attack methods on a chalkboard, would "Ramming buildings with commercial jets" have appeared on that list?

Prior to 9/11, it was.

To the smear machine:

Actually, I don't know if I would have said 'probable myself...but it definitely would have made my 'possible' list. I read Tom Clancy novels...he wrote a story several years ago that ends with a disgruntled pilot intentionally targeting his jumbo jet into the Capitol during a joint session of Congress.

Life imitating art? I hope not...anyways, true history can very often be stranger than any fiction dreamed up by the greatest of writers.

Are you kidding? The answer is yes.

Look, terrorist acts have been going on for years, including suicide attacks with truck bombs into building killing hundreds of Marines, USS Cole, etc, etc etc.

Its my opinion that the thousands of huge flying, fuel filled bombs that dot our skies daily, should have been protected long ago. It's a complete, total failure of our leadership going back many years. Please note I did not mention Bush specifically.

It's very simple, American pilots should have been armed or at least had access to weapons in the cockpits. The government knows full well, how much we are hated in this world, and have known this for many, many years.

How many terrorist attacks, suicide bombing and airliner hijackings, does it take to figure out that a huge jet airliner could be used as a weapon?

It's just like the immigration issue. What does it take for the government to get the message?

Thanks for outing yourself.

What? Come on Poohbah. You really think that flying giant fuel filled aircraft into building never crossed the minds of our all encompassing intelligence agencies?

Please, give them more credit. The government just failed to act.
