My Fellow Freepers:

Do not fall for the democrat/media's spin that the President was warned last August of an impending terrorist attack.  There was no warning!

"Now, on August 6, the president received a presidential daily briefing. [This] was not a warning briefing, but an analytic report.

This ... report ... did not have warning information in it of the kind that said, "They are talking about an attack against so forth or so on." It was an analytic report that talked about [Osama bin Laden's] methods of operation, talked about what he had done historically, in 1997, in 1998.

It mentioned hijacking, but hijacking in the traditional sense and, in a sense, said that the most important and most likely thing was that they would take over an airliner, holding passengers and demand the release of one of their operatives. And the blind sheik [Omar Abdel Rahman, serving a life sentence for ordering a foiled plot to bomb New York landmarks] was mentioned by name -- even though he's not an operative of al Qaeda -- but as somebody who might be bargained in this way.

I want to reiterate: It was not a warning. There was no specific time, place or method mentioned.

Why didn't the Congresspeople who knew about 9-11 in advance DO SOMETHING MORE after their calls for prevention were allegedly ignored?

Each and every Congressman who whines that HE knew, but nobody in government would listen to him, could have taken the initiative and got the word out to more and more people...that all of those Democrat Congressmen could have been heros who saved THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of lives on 9-11...

I've been reminding my husband for two days that OBL bragged on videotape that the terrorists didn't know what their target was, so how was Bush to know? Also, Congress was given the same briefing as Bush received and they did nothing. At least Bush drafted a "war" plan to take OBL out, notified the FAA and moved ships in the mid-East to more strategic positions. Can't someone on this forum get this to the GOP? Their talking points are terrible.

Yep, and the reason that not all the hijackers knew the nature of the attacks is ue to the fact that it was unthinkable that hijackers would fly airliners into buildings prior to 9/11.

This is what many have forgotten following their 9/11 epiphany. The world is now a different place, you cannot judge pre-9/11 activities with a post-9/11 mentality.

I wouldn't exactly call this a vanity, Laz. You're merely repeating a know fact. One of the things about 9/11 that amazed investigators was the operational security maintained by Al Qaeda. There was zero communications traffic about the attack. We knew that they were "up to something"; but then again, they were always "up to something"! If there is blame anywhere within the government, it lies with the Clintonistas. Had they accepted the Somalies offer to hand over bin Laden, 9/11 might not have occured.

Laz - Excellent. However we know this is somewhat dumbed down for sheeple consumption. Whether the actual hijackers (foot soldiers) knew or not is really irrevelant. The charge regards intelligence info about communications from "generals", not "soldiers". But this is good sheeple communications stuff.

I would start with something like "the intelligence info provided to Bush was of the generic sort they've seen for years and did not provide enough specifics on dates, locations and methods for any action to be taken etc etc". And then add your killer lines. That way you meet the charge on two levels - intellectual level and sheeple level.
