Well, as pointed out by this morning's Glenn Beck program, VP Cheney, in a 9/15/01 interview with Russert on MTP, made clear that the administration had general information about an Al Quaeda threat, that it had placed forces overseas on alert several times during the summer of 2001, but that there was no way to predict the precise events of 9/11. Beck read from the MTP transcript and there is NOTHING being reported now that wasn't said FOUR DAYS AFTER THE EVENT!

EXACTLY. Many people spent WEEKS after 9-11, face to face, attempting to make the public inderstand that NO ONE knew WHEN, WHERE or even WHETHER an attack would take place.

Given the total lack of important information, preventing the atrocities of 9-11 would be analogous to attempting to stop hundreds of thousands of careless hikers from starting wildfires by hiring somebody to find every one of them and follow them step by step through the woods, stamping out lit cigarrettes carelessly dropped into dry brush, and putting out still-smoldering campfires.

Such a thing is IMPOSSIBLE. It canNOT be done!
