Washington D.C. - Speaker Dennis Hastert made the following remarks during the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony today:
"I am very honored to participate in this ceremony to give the Congressional Gold Medal to Ronald and Nancy Reagan.
"Ronald Reagan is a hero of mine. His life represents the best of the heartland of Illinois. As President, he put his trust in the spirit of the American people. He knew that freedom and opportunity would conquer oppression and evil. Our national agenda still reflects the vision of Ronald Reagan.
