The problem with this story is that this school decided upon certain rules and were completely upfront with them. If you don't like the school's rules, go somewhere else (as the woman is doing) and don't try to impose your morality (or immorality) upon the school. I wouldn't qualify for enrolling my kids, and I'm not the least offended by that fact. To each his own.

You are right that they did make their rules and were up front about them. My problem with them is characterizing that as being "Christian". They have a legal right to kick that child out. I just don't think that Jesus would have done so.

That's what I've been wondering. Who found this in the first place?

This is exactly the reason my family homechurch

Studies have shown that homechurched children don't properly socialize with their peers.</homeschooler sarcasm>

I'm praying for Ms. Silvas and her daughter. It is painfully obvious that she has no clue whatsoever what traditional family values are and what a Christian is. I was struck by the fact that she does seem to love her daughter even though her values are misplaced. Prayers in progress...

I wouldn't have kicked her out either, but I mean, when there are "christian" churches who preach the holiness of same-sex unions I'm not about to knock the folks who go to extremes in the other direction.

"I pointed out that such a child is precisely the child that a Christian school may want to go out of it's way to recruit."

I tend to agree with you. The mothers in both cases at least seem to care enough about their children to put them in a private christian school. I'm not sure the child should be punished for the parents questionable behavior - maybe they should be ministered to instead of expelled.

This was the same denomination that brought us Jessica Hahn, Jimmy Swaggart, and Jim Baker. I wonder how many shows Pastor Cole had to attend as "research" for his decision. I was in an Assembly of God church for about a year and a half. There are some very good people there, but my personal feeling having been in many kinds of churches is that they have a high percentage of whackos (to put it as nicely as possible).

Get serious... posting on this thread has nothing to do with good conscience.

"Popping head" indeed.

I wonder if the stripper mom will lay low now, or try to exploit this new-found celebrity by posing for something else besides this calendar.

I saw the tape of her and her little girl for their local TV station. The 5 year old is the only innocent one in all of this.

Christina Silvas, 24, agreed to stop working at Gold Club Centerfolds off Highway 50 for at least the next three weeks so her daughter can graduate from kindergarten and attend the end-of-the-year pool party she had been looking forward to.

Huh???

If she's just taking a three-week furlough, I can't see why that should change anything. If I were the school, I'd take a pass on the mother's "offer" of temporary morality.

The money is too lucrative now, I am sure.

I applaud the decision of the local insurance company and the church to come to a solution for offering stripper mom a job and getting the girl back in school , but with her worldview I dobut she will seriously persue such a career.

I'm not sure the child should be punished for the parents questionable behavior

Children are always disadvantaged by the poor decisions of the adults in their lives. That's why conservatives preach personal responsibility. If there are no consequences for poor behavior, there are also no incentives to change. Ignoring this mother's dancing wouldn't have helped the daughter and would have exposed dozens of more children to the immorality. Would you want your child exposed to this? Visiting this child's home not knowing the lifestyle of the mother? Other parents in a private Christian school have a right to expect that the families in the school exercise moral, Christian behavior.

My spouse and I do everything we can to protect our children. Our children shouldn't have to be exposed to immorality because other adults make terrible decisions. Our charge is to protect our own children first. If we don't, we're just as foolish as the stripper woman.
