A week before the Sept. 11 attack, investigators told the Federal Aviation Administration that student-pilot Zacarias Moussaoui had been arrested and was under investigation as a potential terrorist with a particular interest in flying Boeing 747s. But the agency decided against warning U.S. airlines to increase security.

I hope investigators didn't tell GWB, because if they did, we would have to impeach him.

Hey, no fair blaming Mineta. Everyone knows he's a boob and you can't hold him responsible for that. Look at it this way, if Mneta was on death row for killing someone, half the wing nuts in the world would be claiming that he shouldn't be exeecuted because of his "diminished mental capacity," which "bordered on retardation." It just isn't fair to blame Mineta or to expect anything from him.

>One possible reason FAA officials didn't advise airlines of the Moussaoui case was that he was in custody and FBI officials hadn't amassed evidence that he was connected to a larger plot.

Ah, Clintonian illogic freezes another investigative agency. The Clintonian legal philosophy is- You can't investigate until you have proof. Well you have proof now.

>Only after Sept. 11 did officials conclude Mr. Moussaoui had been training to join the hijacking teams.

Duh, oh! Ya think? Homer Simpson could have come up with that conclusion.
