While I fully support the schools right to do business with whomever they please, I do wonder if it is in the best interest of the kid. The mother may well be a lost cause, but is the kid?

It's important not to confuse the mission of Capital Christian Church with that of its Christian school. It is quite clear the church is a place for the "saint" and "sinner" alike – it is an institution that opens its doors wide for all seeking truth or comfort. But as with most religious schools, the educational branch of the church is designed for the children of families who have already accepted and embraced the core religious beliefs.

this mother has not accepted the core beliefs of this school. short of removing the child from this mother's custody, what can the school do to counteract the daily influence of a mother, who lives a life at variance with what is taught there daily? the responsibility for inculcating this child with values is that of the MOTHER, not this school. The school is willing to do it, in PARTNERSHIP with the mother, but cannot do so in direct contradiction to what the mother is teaching at home, by her example. Were instilling values in her child this mother's primary goal, she would work in partnership with the school to accomplish that, not take up employment that makes a mockery of what is taught there.

The mother chose her path and her child will have to live with the choice. Hopefully, one day, she will wake up.

A contract is a contract. Should we teach her child that it's OK to lie when a contract is suddenly inconvenient?
