Fighting Political Correctness, our next Issue?
May 22, 2002 | Fortress

Just thinking about the November elections and what the GOP could to do
to unite us behind one particular issue, no matter if we are a conservative, moderate or even a liberal Republican.
I would say that we all could rally behind Fighting Political Correctness. Bring back common sense to our society and rid ourselves from these crazy rules, etc. We are wasting so much time on these trivial matters, that it takes time and effort away from real important issues like homeland security, the economy and our moral decline.
We will have plenty of examples that people can relate to. Like forcing school teams to get rid of Indian names and Mascots, followed by PETA wanting us to get rid of animal names and mascots. And we have a lot more examples like it. We will have a national issue, aka the Contract with America and we will fight some of the trial lawyers, that make a living on this issue.

America is ready for a return to common sense. Look at the jury's verdict in Washington state regarding Fualaau and his mother, Soona, suing Des Moines police and the Highline School District seeking $1 million for not doing more to protect him from Mary K. Letourneau.

I think after 9/11 the American people are getting more serious about life. Frivolity is out. I think we Republicans should take advantage of this trend and I believe we can put the Dems on the defensive with this issue.
This is not only a political issue, but a quality of life issue and I believe people do care where our nation is going.

The first step is to correct people who use the term "Native American" to describe American Indians (or, more accurately, Aboriginal Americans).

Whenever someone uses the phrase "Native American" in my presence, I always make it a point to claim that title for myself and my 3-year old daughter, even as I point out that all four of my grandparents were immigrants from Eastern Europe.

As a Native American, I am deeply offended by the PC assault on my native American culture, institutions and history.

I agree with you about everything, but Homeland Security. Homeland Security is not a trivial matter. After the next terrorist attack here in America I'll get back to you, and see if your view of it has changed!

I nominate the hispanic professor from Wayne State Univ who was on O'Reilly the other night saying how Star Wars was biased against hispanics. I admire his persistence. In the face of logic and information showing he was an idiot, he did not waver from his position. What a guy!

HA! That's great! You think we could get minority status from the government, and open a casino? LOL

No you misunderstood I think that is one of the most important issues at present. This could have an enormous impact on our economy for example. Look at yesterday in NYC, the disruption of our lives is enormous

We can only hope.
Plus it really is a tough issue to defend for a person who wants to be taken seriously.

I am glad I didn't use the term Native American. It's amazing how PC has infiltrated almost all parts of our lives.

Quiz - Who came up with the phrase: WOMEN OF COVER? (take'em).

Which politician publicly defined Islam as a "religion'o'love".

Who claims that the illegal crossing of our border is justified and can be explained by FAMILY VALUES?

I heard about that one. It really is getting ridiculous. It would be funny, except for the fact they are getting away with it and people just accept it.

OK.
So our side needs to be won over first. We have to start somewhere.
We shouldn't give up on it though.

"common sense".
That phrase is even "politically correct"...............Like common sense gun control laws. How about this..........."Bring back REALITY to our society and rid ourselves from these crazy rules, etc."

I am with you there
Like I said PC's influence is deep, even in my thinking. Someone should write a Thesis on the subject.

What can we do about this type of person? He is a spokesman for professional "victims." He makes a living doing this stuff and some idiots line up behind him. You try to get him fired for stupidity and you run into the first amendment. Besides, I don't think stupidity will get you fired from most US universities these days.
