If You're up to doing Your own, You can get t-shirt transer paper for ink jet printer.
You have to "reverse" the art and print to the transfer, up to 8.5" x 11" size.
Then transfer to cloth and mount or do two, and sew together.
Some experimentation may be necessary, but rather than spend the money on screen printing, this may to the trick.

There is a printable (inkjet or laser) fabric available.
The package I have is 8.5" X 11" and is made by June Tailor of Richfield, WI.
You can print on it like paper, no need to reverse the image.

Hi D and Sis :) These are both excellent suggestions, but my printer isn't big enough to do an 18" x 24" flag design, which is really the size I want :(. It would mean cutting the design in half and having to carefully line it up...and maybe still missing the mark. What I'm thinking about is actually MAKING my own silk screen for it, which would be the cost of some pieces of lumber, some silk-like fabric that would make a good screen, and some time (and probably a few swear words as well! LOL!). I already have the tools to make a canvas stretcher, and the principle would be the same.

I think I would use a polyester-based taffeta for the actual flag... I'd have to check around to see what's available and how it drapes. One thing that bugs me about small flags is that most of them are usually too stiff to drape properly when at rest. But I would want it to be a good quality fabric that won't wear out too quickly, so I may not be able to help the draping problem ;). Acrylic paint would work as a printing medium, and the colors wouldn't run if the flags got wet. I ought to know... I've splattered enough of it on a multitude of jeans and sweatshirts that I own! LOL! Once dried and cured, that stuff does NOT wash out!

Anyway, I'm going to play with my idea this weekend and see what I can come up with :).
