At the time, there was a strong presumption that she was dead....

It is my understanding that this area was foot searched with no dogs used in this area. If she was in shallow grave then they may have walked right over her grave. Also the area is close (very close) to a residential area. Neighborhood dogs and strays, along with raccoons and other wildlife would have dug up the body, also since it is on a slope the weather and rain would have eventually also uncovered a shallow grave.
Only time will tell if her body had been there a long time and maybe how she was killed. If she was shot or stabbed, they may find a weapon in the location after an intense search of the area.
I hope and pray that they do find some form of evidence and answers by looking over the remains and the area where they were found.
I know that parents have been through hell but I hope that they allow the remains to be fully looked over before putting them in a final resting place.
I am also hoping that the cops already know who did it and just needed to find the body and a little evidence to finally pin it on the person they suspect. Now they have the remains, will someone maybe be arrested soon? (let's hope so)

If this guy and his dog are hunting turtles, what are they doing on the steep part of a hill. Turtles are found in lower areas near creeks.
Also who made the decision not to search some parts of that park? And who made the decision not to search that particular part of the Park?
You raise some good points --- where is the owner and his dog. They should have been interviewed by now and be enjoying their 35 minutes of fame.
