Anything to justify controlling our children for more and more years, to get the tax revenues for having the kids attend, and to further the Left's agenda.

The simply amazing thing about this article is that these school districts are so desperate to hang onto these pre-k classes, that they are moving funds from other areas to pay for them, since the state is only allowing the same (lower) rate as what the private schools charge. They are not interested in what is best for the children, they want control! The higher grade level classes are being denied funds and teachers so that they can keep control over these younger kids.

This quote from the article is pertinent:

"These are the same school districts that have been saying that they have overcrowded classrooms and shortages of teachers," Cronon, a member of the state partnership and the Orange County coalition, said Tuesday. "They could use those teachers to reduce class sizes."

Truth Addict, One thing I don't understand is this: I know school districts have a lot of flexibility in spending in this state, and they make their own decisions in many matters. I would expect public schools in the lower income areas to be more interested in offering pre-K than public schools in the higher income school districts, where more private pre-K schools are located. Consequently, is your wife in a low or high income area with her pre-K school? And, the competition from public school pre-K will not subside any time soon, if that is what she wants, as these kids who often attend public school pre-K would not be attending your wife's pre-K school anyway because they can't afford it. So, what exactly is her gripe here??? I think there are two different populations we are talking about, and I imagine her school is not impacted by the students being served in public school pre-K. Maybe I am wrong, but if so, please explain! :)
