and give 'em hell

People desire love. They refuse it. I remember the line in Norman Maclean's film rendition of " A River Runs Through It": Why is it that people who need help the most refuse it? We have a tendency to refuse where we need it, because love fingers our identity. Giving hell is sublunary survival of the fittest, which is fine if you like Nietzsche.
