Orange, Miami-Dade and Osceola were all in Gore's top 26 out of 67 Florida counties for #Dem votes vs. registered Dems. and were in President Bush's bottom 25 counties for Republican votes vs. registered Republicans. Both Miami-Dade and Osceola were Votomatic punch card ballot counties. While the press claimed that Votomatics cost Gore votes, the reality is very different. Through readily available data on the state's websites re. election 2000, we find that Gore's Votomatic counties (13) were
all in his top 50% of Dem. votes received vs. registered Dems. Bush's Votomatic counties were all in his bottom 50% Republican votes received/ registered Republicans...poke a Gore hole in a Bush ballot, invalidate a Bush vote...count it an "overcount."
Just in case someone refuses to drop the false accusations gracefully....and, yes, the military deserves a Big Time apology.
Bush still got about 47% of the vote in Miami-Dade, with 73% in my heavly Cuban-American precinct.
