Schools like this one make it plain that this is an official policy. Somebody or some organization is responsible for this directive, and I suspect its source is in Saudi, our "friend and Ally".
Islam is not peace.
No, he just said most weren't peaceful. The "their" terrorists implies that not all of them are terrorists, just terrorist supporters.
The "libertarian part" comes in by believing that private education should remain completely and entirely *private* if it's to form a true alternative to public education. I realize there is a danger of "white supremacist" or "Islamic jihadist" private schools being set up. I think that's a risk we have to take in a free society. Obviously if we go to war with "the Muslim world" then a closer look at Muslim schools may be necessary. Right now, however, IMO the proper balance between liberty and security is achieved by keeping religious schools (*including* Muslim ones) strictly private.
I part company with the libertarians, because I believe that like sewers, public health clinics, the Centers for Disease Control, etc. public education *is* necessary. If a state wants to remove the mandate for compulsory attendance from their state constitution or laws, I think they have that right. On the other hand, I'm not naive enough to think that without massive government subsidies, private education will be able to pick up the slack. To keep the integrity of private education, I think it's the lesser of two evils to continue public education.
I also don't like the way some conservative writers make it seem that because *some* public schools are bad, *all* public schools are bad everywhere. This simply defies logic. Ninety percent or so of kids in the US are educated in public schools. Most kids who go to Yale, Harvard, and all the good engineering/science schools were educated in public schools. Obviously *some* schools are doing good jobs. Including those schools in the "blame game" is unfair & in the final end does nothing to help the failing *inner city* schools.
I'm not so sure even "failing inner city schools" can be blamed for everything. Why is it that Asian students do well in these *same* "failing schools?" These inner-city schools still have libraries; they still have honors classes in their high schools; they have labs. Why is it that in 70/20/10 black/Asian/white high schools, it is whites and Asians who make up the honors class populations? These questions, in my mind at least, couldn't be swept under the rug any longer.
I really don't have a political axe to grind here - I don't make my living *either* from the public school system OR from the "alternatives" world. As I said, I respect that many conservatives have a different viewpoint, and that it's indeed an unusual one for a conservative to have.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't want any terrorist in my home, Muslim or otherwise.
But not wanting a Muslim terrorist in my home is in no way a reflection of whether or not Muslims are "peaceful".
I'd rather have a Muslim in my home (one who is not a terrorist) than say..... someone who bombs abortion clinics in the name of the Christian God (what I would call a "Christian Terrorist").
DITTO !!
And the fundies think they can make Him come back.
Hadn't heard anything like that. Who are you referring to?
People don't get it. God is in control and we aren't Him..
