Face the facts, Arabs
Arab News ^ | 29 may 02 | Muhammad Omar Al-Amoudi

I recently received a fax containing some interesting but very disturbing information. The message posed an implicit question to every Arab about what his or her future is going to be. A careful reading of the fax helps us Arabs identify the causes for our defeat in the confrontation with the Jewish state of Israel. Two weeks ago that state celebrated the 54th anniversary of its founding which occurred after the land was taken from the Arabs.

While the fax enumerated a number of significant achievements by the Zionist state, it also compared them with Arab achievements — or to be precise, Arab failures. First, the fax underscored the progress made by Israel in achieving its present Gross National Product (GNP). Israel’s GNP exceeds $100 billion while the oil revenue of all the Arab countries combined is barely $113 billion. The average annual income of an Israeli is about 17 times higher than that of an Arab. The Arab’s average annual income is $1,000 while the Israeli average is $17,000. Twelve percent of Israelis are employed in agriculture and another 12 percent in business while the remaining 76 percent are employed in the industrial sector. The average spent on scientific research per year per person in Israel is $110. The Arab world, in contrast, spends a pathetic $2. Israel’s leading electronic industry manufactures several times more than all the Arab countries combined produce. Israel exports $7.2 billion worth of IT products annually and aims to push it up to $12 billion in a decade. As a proportion of its total population, Israel boasts the highest number of engineers and scientists in comparison to any other country.

Generous scientific and financial assistance provided by the US and Western countries support these highly qualified experts. Further, the US provides Israel with the most advanced weapon technology. This has helped — and still helps — Israel to develop sophisticated missile systems. With 70 percent of the weapons manufactured in the country exported, the Jewish state is the fifth largest weapons exporter in the world. It has also developed a plutonium-based nuclear capability. As the sixth atomic power in the world, Israel is also capable of manufacturing 200 nuclear warheads.

These are the facts, Arabs. What are you going to do about them?

A disturbing look in the mirror for this raghead. And how do the Islamaniacs propose to deal with this discrepancy between Israel and themselves? Why, more anti-Israel hatred and suicide bombings.

Im going to make this my signature, might be too long though..........

==========================

Ever notice how some news events come and go and sometimes *gasp* even end! Too bad the ME is the lone standout. This shit has been going on for so long now that its going to take a chemical or biological attack with hundreds or more dead, most likely in Cheynea, or Isreal for us (the United States of America, the planets last or only present super power) to finally just snap.

Hell, maybe it wont be us, maybe it will be India. It, like Israel has had to deal with neighbors whom are just itching to kill as many non-muslims as possible.

Now we are being drawn into this more and more. This is only going to an end when we nuke one of these nations, the countries are like bratty kids, you pander to them and let them run wild and its eventually going to bite us big time in the ass...and the leg...and the throat.

We didnt like it when we did it to the japs, the nuking, but we did it. Maybe our enemies dont think we'll use it or maybe they are just a sick, suicidal culture of vermin.

We will end this once and for all after we use tactical nukes.

Ever realize how all the bordering regions of the middle east, there are fanatical muslims invading and killing?

To the North, Cheychen Muslims, to the east muslims clashing with India and western china provinces, to the west....growing larger and larger. To the south, slaughtering Indonisian christans, and the surrounding islands.

Even though Muhammad Omar Al-Amoudi made great points, he should verify his facts better. These are from the CIA:

Isreal

GDP: purchasing power parity - $110.2 billion (2000 est.)
GDP - real growth rate: 5.9% (2000 est.)
GDP - per capita: purchasing power parity - $18,900 (2000 est.)

Saudi Arabia

GDP: purchasing power parity - $232 billion (2000 est.)
GDP - real growth rate: 4% (2000 est.)
GDP - per capita: purchasing power parity - $10,500 (2000 est.)

I think that the author was using figures averaged over the 22 Arab countries, while you were showing figures from Saudi Arabia, which among the wealthiest of those.

They won't be able to do anything about it. The Koran ties them with ties that bind - tightly!

Everything Islam has gotten in the past has been through butchery and theft. It's easy to build this "wonderful" empire that they had when it was built on the sweat of others who had to pay that despicable jyziat tax that non-muslims have to pay or be tortured and killed.

If it wasn't for western technology and the luck to be sitting on a sea of oil, they'd still be riding camels and living in tents. Islam didn't advance in 1400 years and I suspect it would have taken tens of thousands of years to put a man on the moon, if ever.

Face the facts, Arabs

You forgot the ending. I'd suggest

1) Face the facts, Arabs suck.

2)Face the facts, Arabs are terrorists.

3) Face the facts, Arabs would die without our technology and food.

The author is laying the blame for the disparity between Israel and the whole Arab world combined on the UNITED STATES. If it weren't for U.S. money, U.S. technology, U.S. weaponry, etc. etc. Israel would not be so powerful nor so prosperous. Maybe. But what he leaves out is a comparison of the billions the U.S. and the West pump into the ME and the Arab nations, not counting oil revenues. The Palestinians have nothing that is not the product of international aid (welfare)---and that from the West, not from their Arab "brothers".

One of the points I was trying to make is he is trying to compare apples to oranges. He compares the total GNP (Gross National Product) to just the oil revenue of all the Arab countries combined. Saudi Arabia has a GDP 3 times the size of it oil revenues. Do you get my point? I only included the chart because it is interesting.

World Total Oil Production, 2000 pie chart. Having problems call our National Energy Information Center at 202-586-8800 for help.

Except for the sad fact that they aren't actually true.

Israel GDP: purchasing power parity - $110.2 billion (2000 est.)
Saudi Arabia GDP: purchasing power parity - $232 billion (2000 est.)
Source: CIA World Handbook

Please don't make me indirectly defend the Arabs by refuting your nonsense.

Simple -- they're going to (try to) destroy Israel, so that they will no longer be embarrassed by the comparison.

It's the same as the liberal reaction to a good example: "He's doing better than the masses, they feel bad about their inadequacy -- let's drag him down to our level".

You have compared statistics for Israel with those for Saudi Arabia, but I get the impression the original article was comparing Israel with the entire Arab world. When you lump Saudi Arabia with other Arab countries like Yemen the averages drop sharply.

The author is attributing Israeli advances to infusions of US and European money. This means, I suppose, that the Arab countries are giving away their petroleum for love. By golly, the Arab countries are collecting fortunes from America and Europe at the gas stations, and they haven't been bashful about raising the prices when they saw an opportunity. For the past several years the PLO has been getting an enormous amount of free money from the UN, the EU, the Arab League, and even the US Congress, and yet, even with that largess, the Palestinian territories are worse off under Arafat than they were under the Israelis.

An interesting sidelight on this is that while it is true that Israel get more foreign aid from the US than any other country,
Egypt is a close number two, and other Arab nations get theirs as well.

In general I don't like foreign aid, though I wouldn't like to see Israel singled out for cuts.

I have always been reliably pro-Israel (Pat would probably say I'm in their amen corner), even though I criticize their semi-socialist economics and union monopolies. That said, it's practically Galt's Gulch compared to any Arab economy.

Many Arab countries, especially Saudi Arabia, also get IMF loans for arms purchases from US companies. Isreal at least manufactures their own.

The economies of all countries in the middle east (except Iraq) are to some extent subsidized by the United States.

Now they'll fume, get pissed, read their Elders of Zion books and claim it's the devil's fault. Then they'll support the closest dictator, launch another futile war, waste billions more on burning tanks and artillery instead of health services...and when it's all over, breed like rats to make up for the losses and try again. And the $2 per arab for research is all aimed at weapons research...what's new?

Now it's Russia with the biggest share and the Saudies are second. Even in that the arabs suck. Not to mention that they aren't pumping anything...other people pump the oil with foreign technology and they just collect money for it. It's called welfare.

I didn't get that sense at all. The piece reminded me of that black preacher in San Diego who goes around telling people to stop whining about the Hispanics passing them up, and to go start a business or something.
