Yes, Mexico won the Alamo. Santa Anna laid siege to the Alamo and the Mexicans killed all who were there down to the very last man. Among them--Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie. The phrase, "Remember the Alamo" was American rhetoric and part of a campaign of disinformation after the Alamo was lost to the Mexicans. But why was there a slaughter to begin with? Spain wanted to populate and colonize the northern territory (before Mexican independence) so Austin was granted permission to colonize the Texas territory, but there were terms to his agreement with Spain. The settlers had to be of good moral character, Catholic, abide by Mexican law and eventually become Mexican citizens. When word was out of the new settlement thousands came–out number the native Mexicans–things got out of hand. U.S. selfishly wanted Texas territory for itself, and James selfishly wanted Texas for himself. Long declared Texas independent and naming him self president of Texas. Mexico now had a problem, and U.S. still had selfish interests. Mexico passed an immigration law that forbid future immigration into Texas by U.S. citizens. They came anyway. Another president was chosen for Texas, Santa Anna moved north reaching the outskirts of San Antonio, and the old Franciscan mission–the Alamo. And the story continues . . . .
