[history]
The Army is removing female soldiers from ground reconnaissance units that are part of the service's future fast-deploying combat brigades.
Reversing a Clinton administration policy, the Pentagon no longer will let women be assigned to Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition (RSTA) squadrons. These unique units, the first of which will become operational next year, are trained to perform some of the ground sweeps now being conducted in the mountains of Afghanistan, as well as other missions. Eight female soldiers who have been training in the first RSTA unit are being reassigned, an Army spokeswoman said yesterday. The reversal is to comply with a 1994 Defense Department policy that prohibits women from serving in units that perform direct ground combat roles. The Army says it has changed its mixed-sex policy on RSTA because the units, as they evolve as part of Army transformation, are taking on more missions.

First Dacowits is squelched then the Clintonista end run around no women in combat units is trumped. At last someone has the guts to say that combat arms are about something other than a jobs program and career boosting a handful of Feminazi officers.

"Gen. Bell now commands III Corps, with headquarters at Fort Hood, Texas."Should read: "Gen. Bell now commands the IIIrd Imperial Corps, with headquarters at Fort Hood, Texas."

All holdover Clinton appointees have been dismissed, and a new committee is being appointed
This also needs to be happening at lightning speed at the INS, FBI, CIA and every other important government department.

IMHO any woman who fulfills
ALL mental and
physical requirements should have the chance to do the job, just like any man. I reiterate
all. If she can drag a 200 lb man to safety in a firefight I wouldn't mind having her there. It just might be my a$$ she's dragging.

Oddly enough, I've been in many arguments with women about this. I told them I have no problem with them being in my fire team if they can do whatever any other guy in the team can do. As fair as that is, most of 'em get all worked up about it. Comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of what the military is about, I guess...
Now here's my favorite part--
...Elaine Donnelly, who heads the Center for Military Readiness. She has pressed Bush appointees, in meetings at the Pentagon in recent months, to make RSTA male-only.
A woman has put out this directive! Not a mean-spirited "boys club only" male, but a female! I love it...

You and I both know that these women are not fighting for the right of women to serve in rnak and file infantry units, they are trying to open up special assignments so that career-minded women can get their tickets punched.
There is no significant demand for women to serve as grunts. Tell these womend that they have to serv 4-5 years in a line unit first, then see what happens. Infantry isn't for women- hell, it ain't even for most men!

Now for the bad news. Friends still on active duty inform me that women are still being pushed through US military aircrew training while being allowed to pass with scores that would immediately wash-out men.

It's a relief to hear that military policy is moving away from "Clintonista PC Theory" and focusing on the "Whole New Ballgame" practical.
Shame the stupid beret idea couldn't have been axed, but the US had already paid too many millions to China for THAT brainstorm, IMO, for the current administration to justify the the cost.
