That said,
Every one here who has ever had one too many can shut up.
Every one here who didn't like it when Jenna was dragged through the press for the very same thing can shut up too.
Bunch of hypocrites, every one of you.
And your hypocrisy severly detracts from the perception of your judgement, and that of FR in general.
That is all.
Like Steve-b said with those parents who wouldn't spend a lot of time drunk. In fact, just thinking about them tempts me to head for a bar.
Jenna was dragged through the press for having a (single) margarita. She was underage, not drunk!
BALONY. We're the ones who read and react to followers of the Clinton (ALL OF THE CLINTONS) dragging the Bush girls (ALL OF THEM) through the mud every single chance they get....even after they've been quiet for MONTHS. When the Sr Clintons asked the media to black out on Chelsea's occasional lapses in good behavior, the media did it.
When the Bush family asked for the same favor....WHAT HAPPENED?? We know what happened The media not only STALKED all the Bush daughters everywhere they went...they dragged the Bush family reguest for equal consideration of their daughters through their press as well!
If they can dish it out, THEN LET THEM TAKE IT IN RETURN.
Anyone who thinks Chelsea should get special treatment because we think it's unfair that she GETS special treatment and the Bush girls don't....shut up.
The hypocrisy is that this will get much, much less media play than any 'Bush daughter indiscretion'....
Well put. Thank you.
Easier said than done. If I could just shut up after having one too many, I would get myself in alot less trouble. :)
I didn't like when Jenna was dragged through the press. But hey, if they are going to drag Jenna, they might as well drag Chelsea. I have to admit, what's fair is fair. I had to put up with the media feasting on Jenna, so I'll just have to put up with the media feasting on Chelsea. "Bunch of hypocrites, every one of you."
Same as above. A story of an illegal margarita drink ordered by Jenna is certainly worth as much as a drunken puking pissing Chelsea.
Chelsea has enjoyed all the benefits of an extremely accomodating press corp for 10 years. Now, she is no longer a child living in the glare of the White House, she is a 22 year old college graduate who is making a spectacle of herself all over 3 or 4 continents. Recently it was reported that her globe trotting and partying ways have kept her away from Oxford for so long that she is dangerously close to falling short of the number of weeks required to complete her degree. Like all adult, public figures who carelessly flaunt their position she is learing that privilege carries rewards and burdens. She is probably doing no more than many of us did at 22 but we didn't seek or expect special treatment and no one stood ready to make excuses for our reckless behavior. Americans everywhere were deeply affected by 9-11 but most didn't feel that gave us license to indulge in excesses. Nor should the fact that she has been living abroad have any bearing. Chelsea was no novice to international travel, to different cultures and she was certainly well aware of anti-American sentiments around the world. If she were, indeed, the smart, savvy young woman that Big Media and other Clinton sycophants would have us believe, then her past experiences should have better prepared her to cope with such a world changing day and it's aftermath. If the truth be known, she has become nothing more than a spoiled, self-indulgent parasite on society just like her parents.
Frankly, I could not care less if she stays knee walking drunk for the rest of her life. However, I do care very much about the unabashed hypocrisy and bias of the press. For all these years Big Media has given her a pass and only the tabloid press dared to utter her name. By contrast, every major Big Media outlet in the world joined the tabloids in excoriating the younger Bush girls. Not a one of them bothered to point out the difference in the way the two families handle matters of accountability. Jenna and Barbara had to face up to the consequences and punishments of their behavior. They appeared in court without their parents and they were taken to the woodshed at a special family meeting held at Camp David. No complaining, no explaining, no excuses and no whining from the Bush family, their friends or spokesmen. To the best of my recollection nothing but excuses have been made for Chelsea's behavior.
