Colleges Recruit Homosexuals (Barf Alert!)

America's elite colleges are actively recruiting homosexuals. The Boston Globe reports that in the cutthroat world of college admissions recruitment, homosexual students are emerging as an appealing new niche.

"What is the climate at Harvard for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students?" This question was added last year to Harvard's sixty "frequently asked questions" that are answered in the school's student viewbook. The Globe says this same question is being raised increasingly at elite colleges like Harvard, Tufts and Bates, and their desire is to answer it in as glowing terms as possible.

School admissions officers claim that the "coming out" experience by homosexuals in high school breeds self-confidence, leadership qualities and cultural awareness -- all qualities that colleges want in their students. They make this assertion, however, even though they lack statistics to undergird their premise that homosexual students outperform their peers.

But colleges are being thwarted in their homosexual recruiting efforts by one simple question: How do you appeal to a population of people that cannot identify themselves by simply checking off a box on their college applications?

As a possible answer to that dilemma, Brown, Harvard, Yale, and about forty other New England colleges recently sent representatives to Boston for the nation's first college fair for homosexual high school students. Mark Taggart, chief organizer of the event, said that several admissions officials had been asking homosexual organizations in the area how to go about recruiting homosexuals.

"I've heard from several colleges that this is a population they want to reach out to, but that this is the only student population that lacked a good venue to directly market to them," said Taggart, who is with the Massachusetts Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth.

To attract homosexuals, some schools are including nondiscrimination policies in their admissions viewbooks as a signal of acceptance. The University of New Hampshire (UNH) admissions office has even begun reaching out to a high school in Dallas whose mission is educating homosexual students.

"It's foolish to act like different sexual orientations are a taboo -- they're a reality," said Jibril Salaam, UNH's associate director of admissions for inclusion and diversity.

This is nothing new. Liberal want "diversity" until it comes to white heterosexual Christian gun owners. Many of our "finest" school have had Gay "orientation sessions" for years.

Last I heard, that high school was a failure. It seems they can't attract enough kids to make it worthwhile, or so's I heard.
Can anybody confirm my semi-memorable assumption?

inclusion and diversity. Who wants to bet they don't have a box for "conservative" or "Christian"?

Sadly true; been around a long time. I recall almost 20 years ago hearing about my University's Gay & Lez Assoc. raising heck because they felt the University's Rugby Assoc. was less than simpathetic. These two groups, amoung many other sponsered in part by the Univiersity, had school 'office space' that had a common wall that didn't provide much privacy. The Rugby players couldn't help laughing and making loud 'dry heave' sounds when someone on the other side shared their 'coming out' story. The G & L group responded by telling various other stories, loudly. Apparently some fights even broke out. Funny and gross then. Funny and gross now.

You're right. They've been doing that here for years. As I've said a number of times on FR, I know many homosexuals and they are fine people. I just don't want them shoving their lifesyle in my face and telling me it's okay. It's a dangerous lifestyle and the recruitment is getting worse and worse. I have my problems with the militant ones who keep trying to have sex with little kids and telling us all that that's acceptable.

Because it's the "conservative Christians" that get their rocks off by harassing and assulting homosexual students at schools like Texas A&M and 'Bama, not the other way around. Why do they need to be protected?

What? You and your rugby team weren't taken to "sensitivity training" as is usually required?

A wise man once said that you know your side is winning when a liberal calls you a bigot.

Take your PC crap to Dem-Underground, please.

Maybe if the high school was in the Castro district of San Francisco. They would probably have to turn students away.

I'm not sure I'd want to get into a fight with someone that plays rugby; at our college they were are very tough, very crazy people.

I can see it now...[G & L group] "Cut it out!!! Stop Teasing! (slap) AAAIIEEEE!!!!" (sound of person being stuffed in toilet, repeated sound of toilet flushing)

Those must be just about the last two such enclaves in the USA.
Just expressing a moral reservation about a lifestyle other than heterosexuality
was already a cause for reproach at Oklahoma State U. and U. of Oklahoma in
the late 1980s.

Well, at least among the faculty, who are doubtless now busy protesting against Israel.
