ISTORIAN Henry Steele Commager observed that no Virginian and probably no American did more to oppose slavery than Thomas Jefferson. In 1784, Jefferson proposed to the Continental Congress that ''there shall be neither slavery nor involuntary servitude'' in any of the new states. He lost by a single vote. More than eight decades would pass before the 13th Amendment would bring a legal end to slavery here.

A Thomas Jefferson bump
Since Jefferson is the Icon of the RAT party, I prefer to refer to him as a slaver.
His name should also be associated with the likes of other famous RATs, such as:
1. Billy Jim Bob Byrd, (KKK) Grand Imperial RAT Wizard of the Senate
2. Fritz Hollings, then RAT Governor who orderd Confederate battle flag flown over SC Statehouse.
3. George Wallace, RAT governor who stood in the doors of the University of Alabama to prevent the entry of blacks.
4. Algor Sr., RAT Senator who voted against the Civil Rights Act and had a black nanny (for little Algor) who had to wait in the car while the "white folk" ate in a restaurant.
I'm sure you can come up with a few more.
Now that they are out and out socialists, Jefferson provides them little support. The right now find Jefferson's quotations more useful, for example on the RKBA.
Jefferson's only function for the RATS now is as a Dead White Male they can discredit, and the Hemming yarn is perfect in that regard.
I found this page from the Jefferson-Hemings Scholars commission very interesting . Coolidge Letter Transcription Discrepancy
It seems Professor Annette Gordon-Reed (author of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings) made "mistakes" while copying an old letter from Jefferson's granddaughter to her husband that mentions the visibility of the access to Jefferson's apartment.
The original letter reads
"His apartments had no private entrance not perfectly accessible and visible to all the household. No female domestic ever entered his chambers except at hours when he was known not to be there, and none could have entered without being exposed to the public gaze."
Professor Gordon-Reed "mistakenly" changed the words to
"No female domestic ever entered his chambers except at hours when he was known not to be in the public gaze."
How much do you want to bet that the 1 who voted against the report is a democRAT who couldn't figure out how to vote in Floriduh?
