Will the Victory of the Ali Quaeda and Taliban be the Radiation of America's Finest?

In a macbre since, will the victory of the Ali Quaeda and Taliban be the radiation of America's finest? Has anyone thought about the American, British and Canadian troops stationed throughout Southwest Asia? If Pakistan and India unleash the 50 - 75 warheads they are threatening to deploy from their nuclear arsenals, it will cover the region our troops and our allies are stationed in.

Will the victory of the Ali Quaeda and Taliban be the radiation of America's finest troops and the destruction of the bulk of America's military assets? There is absolutely no prevention or contingency plan once the nuclear missiles start. It is estimated that within the first 24 - 48 hours 14 - 17 million people will perish; in the following two to three weeks several million more will die hideous deaths from radiation after affects. Then for the next 30 - 50 years millions will die from cancers from a direct or indirect result of a nuclear tragedy of this proportion. As Nikita Kruschev said, "In the Event of Nuclear war, the living will envy the dead."

What is the contingency plan for protecting our American troops in the event that India or Pakistan unleash their nuclear arsenal?

Of the 2,044 nuclear weapons tests worldwide, there have been 711 in the atmosphere or underwater: 215 by the U.S., 207 by the Soviet Union, 21 by Britain, 45 by France and, 23 by China.

The last atmospheric nuclear weapons test occurred on 16 October 1980 in China. The first was on 16 July 1945 in the U.S.

It is estimated that the total yield of all the atmospheric nuclear weapons tests conducted is 438 megatons. That's equivalent to 29,200 Hiroshima size bombs. In the 36 years between 1945 and 1980 when atmospheric testing was being conducted this would have been equivalent to exploding a Hiroshima size bomb in the atmosphere every 11 hours.

While I admit I had the same thought yesterday, consider this. During the fifties, our Army often positioned soldiers in trenches twenty or thirty miles from ground zero, their only protection being thick dark goggles to protect their sight. The amount of radiation our troops would receive from Pakistan and India would be a lot less than in these tests, especially if the normal prevailing winds carry the fallout easterly. On the other hand, I wouldnt want to be along the Kasmir border, in Islamabad, or New Delhi. In the event of a nuclear exchange, I would imagine our forces would either head for the caves or get evacuated to aircraft carriers that would also afford some protection.

I think we'll have much bigger problems to deal with if the worst should happen in India/Pakistan. I would guess our military has evacuation plans in this doomsday scenario.

It is my observation that winds blow from west to east. If this is true, fallout from nuclear bombs in India or Pakistan would blow away from Afghanistan where our troops are located - I think.
