Your memory serves you well. DCF became HRS under Gov. Bob Martinez back in the '80's after a number of children in HRS care died due to negligence or abuse. HRS was re-org'd into DCF. I guess that re-org did not work nor change anything.
This is yet another government agency that should be abolished and it's monies allocated to private charitable organizations.

I'm all for him being Governor again, but surely you don't think the U.S. would elect another Bush to the Presidency do you?
My thoughts exactly. ESPECIALLY NEW YORK - the "HOME" of the Hildebeast.
You ever hear of the Federal Government?
I'd sure like to know the basic stories behind THIS little statistic.
Relatives not always suited to take in abused children
Published on December 13, 1992Florida's abused and neglected children sometimes are hurt again in homes of grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives where the state had intended to protect them, new reports show.
The Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) routinely places abused and neglected children with relatives rather than in foster care, but often fails to conduct thorough background checks or to ensure the relative provides a safe home, the reports say.

The statewide Long-Term Care Ombudsman Council also wants an outside agency to investigate the relationship between the homes' owners and workers at the state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS).
HRS computer buy scrutinized by panel
Published on December 29, 1992Questions about computer purchases and performance at Florida's social services agency already have spurred a criminal investigation, the firing of one top official and the forced resignation of another.
Today, the state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) will have to answer more questions to win approval for a $9.5 million IBM mainframe that was installed in August without a purchase order or any bids. The acquisition also is one of several being reviewed by the...
And I suppose each one took a Gore ballot before disappearing...
HUH? I don't understand this one. I could maybe understand a court order prohibiting an individual caseworker from visiting a specific child, but the whole agency? I'm so confused, maybe I'll just good back to sleep.
Sure, all of us here would. But what about the sheeple? Don't get me wrong. I like Jeb. But that whole "dynasty" think could turn into a negative.
Sounds like a gaggle of starving lawyers doing their mating dance in the face of drought and pestilence. The fledglings either get eaten alive, smashed in the turf battle, or tossed out of the nest.
