CNN's Dobbs to Abandon Terror Phrase
AP | 6/07/02

NEW YORK, Jun 07, 2002 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- The war on terror may be ending - at least on one CNN program.

Lou Dobbs, host of the nightly CNN business show "Moneyline," said on the air Wednesday that he is abandoning the phrase "war on terror" in favor of the more specific "war on Islamists."

He said the enemy is not terror, but radical Islamists who argue that non-believers should be killed.

"This is not a war against Muslims or Islam or Islamics," Dobbs said. "It is a war against Islamists and all who support them, and if ever there were a time for clarity, it is now. We hope this new policy is a step in the right direction."

It was unclear Thursday whether Dobbs was permanently abandoning "war on terror" as a phrase or if he was simply, as a spokeswoman suggested, starting a dialogue with viewers.

During the other 23 hours of CNN's news day, the network is sticking with the "war on terror."

Dobbs' commentary "is perfectly appropriate," CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said.

"His viewers expect his insight and commentary, and like all of his commentary, it doesn't necessarily represent the views of the network," Robinson said.

The opinionated anchor attracted attention earlier this spring with a vigorous defense of auditors Arthur Andersen during the Enron scandal. Dobbs criticized the Justice Department for indicting the auditors, while acknowledging past business relationships with Andersen.

And Reuters is still not even calling them "terrorists".! But truth will ultimately prevail..... Dobbs/CNN must really be feeling the Fox/Cavuto heat.

I agree except for the fact that the word islamists leaves lots of other culprits ignored, such as FARC for example.

Love for this, and THANK YOU CNN for backing up Lou on this....I don't like your liberal bias, I really dispise Ted Turner, but I LOVE that you support Lou in his fabulously direct and honest approach to calling a SPADE A SPADE. He said the enemy is not terror, but radical Islamists who argue that non-believers should be killed.

Drudge had a report on this which stated that many Arabs, both in the Middle East and the US, called to condemn this change in tone by Dobbs.

Dobbs said specifically that the enemy is not Islam or Muslims, but radical Islamists. The question for those that would disagree with his sentiments would be: if you don't consider radical Islamists who argue non-belivers should be killed as enemies, are they then our friends? If so, are you then saying it is OK for these radicals to kill all those who don't share their beliefs? And if so, is it OK for me to go kill anyone not sharing my beliefs? If so, I guess that, instead of civilized debate, and even agreeing to disagree, we should just all kill one another and put an end to all our disagreements. To those Arabs (and their apologists) who object to honesty like Dobbs': Is this your vision for the human race?

This is why radical Islam must be ruthlessly stopped, and now.

Just heard Mr. Dobbs interviewed by Mike Gallagher on his (Gallagher's) radio show! He said he has always made it clear to his audience where he stands ... voted for GWB, wears a lapel flag pin, and is conservative!!

Mike asked him how his CNN bosses reacted to his statement ... Mr. Dobbs gave a big, hearty laugh and said that (he named a name) was supportive of him.

I don't have cable, but would watch him if I could. He has a marvelous radio voice, too!

It's about time this view, the correct view, reaches the "mainstream". Everyone should send CNN an e-mail, telephone them, write to them, to convey their agreement with Dobb's view. We are indeed in a war against Islam for our very survival. They will try, in any way and many ways, to take us down, take us over, eradicate us. Islam does not mean "peace" - it means war, submission, subjugation - of all that do not conform.

Islam is not a "great religion". It is a cult, an ideology not too far removed from Nazism. Do not fall for the falsity that there are any Muslims who love America - true Muslims want to destroy America.

We must stay the course on this - if we fail, our children, our grandchildren, the entire world - will fall to Islam.
