Man Arrested for Trying to Destroy Neighborhood

By ABC 11 Police in Hopewell, Virginia have arrested a man whom they say wanted to destroy a neighborhood in Wake County.

Detectives say 41-year-old Ronnie Wayne Pegram of Chesterfield County, Virginia, approached an undercover police officer and tried to hire the officer to cause mass destruction to the Ponderosa Mobile Home Park, off of US 1 south of Wake Forest. A concerned citizen in Virginia contacted police, and police began an undercover investigation which involved the Hopewell Police, the FBI, Virginia State Police, a multi-jurisdictional task force, and the Wake County Sheriff's office.

Detectives say there is a specific reason why Pegram chose the Ponderosa Mobile Home Park, but because their investigation is still continuing, they are not revealing Pegram's motives at this time.

Authorities arrested Pegram Thursday, and he made his first court appearance Friday. He is being held without bond.
