Matthews accuses the President of "setting up" a false "cause for war" with Iraq. Now that Matthews has a long-term contract worth $$$ zillions, he's relaxing and letting his hair down with the same sort of demented logic that caused him to support Michael Dukakis (who thinks his core political beliefs have changed during the last decade?).
With his newfound freedom of contract, I wouldn't be surprised to see regular appearances on his show by Noam Chomsky, Cynthia McKinney, and Hitlery.

Thanks for the bump. EXCELLENT response! Matthews is indeed "relaxing and letting his hair down". You know what they say about the tiger and his stripes.

Note to Feinstein: We already are at war with Iraq, and North Korea for that matter. We have cease fire agreements with both those countries, not peace treaties. We fly sorties over Iraq all the time, and there is the DMZ in Korea that U.S. soldiers continually monitor.
Either war could go hot again at any time for flagrant disregard of the cease fire agreements that we have with them through the U.N.

There's a definite whiff of desperation in the air. It runs from the DNC to the newsrooms of the NY Times, Washington Post, and the networks. Since Enron went belly up, it was obvious that the RATS were looking for anything they could latch onto that would hurt Bush. But Dan Rather's paranoid meltdown on Imus a couple of weeks ago was the first time the media tacitly admitted they are also flummoxed and frustrated in their constant attempts to drag down the President. This rabid, foaming at the mouth piece by Matthews is yet another example of this desperation.
bump!

How anyone, from this benignity, can infer American imperialist designs -- 'either adopt democracy, or face the 82nd Airborne' -- simply boggles the mind. More likely, Mr. Matthews purposefully distorts -- he puts false words in Bush's mouth -- to suit his political agenda.
Brilliant stuff, John -- and the usual [You make me proud to be your compatriot!] "Dittos."
Every time Mathews or one of his ilk -- Mrs Clinton, Babs Boxer, Yasser Daschle, Chuckie Schemer et al -- opens his mouth and spews forth his envy-motivated and hatred and rage-engined vomitus, he demonstrates only the content of his own character -- and proves that Psychopathological Projection Syndrome is alive and well in the lizard brain of every totalitarian fascissocialist "liberal."
I thank God for you, Amigo.

I'm glad I missed Matthews Warmonger, but caught John's 2 cents! I can't tell you the last time I've even dropped in on prissy, oops crissy, either in print or on t.v.

At West Point, Bush said nothing of the kind -- and Matthews darn well knows it.That statement right there is the thing that can set me off into a yelling contest with the t.v. set. What do you call this... this deliberate lying over what is said. Bush said nothing of the kind -- Matthews knows it... yet, he spins and lies and deceives as if Bush did say it.
His guests come on and lie and spin and deceive...
If you had to call it anything... you would have to call it Bill Clinton.
Wake up, Chris Matthews. The war is upon us...
Or... (horror) to say... was 9/11 so good for the ratings that in the boardrooms you are hoping for another...
Well, I'm not! Let's roll!

I can't quite bring myself to read Matthews' article so early in the day. At one time I enjoyed his show, but he's like an undisciplined cocker spaniel....jumping up and down, tail-wagging, and peeing all over your feet! He's in serious need of medication.

Dear Chris: I wish you had been on top of the WTC at 0830 on Sept. 11, 2001.
Maybe you would consider differently.

Nice one! Thanks for the ping.

A very, very good response. Here is an early morning bump for you.

Who is this guy, Napoleon? Who is this Matthews, Chamberlin?
I noticed a Reuters story on the arrest yesterday in which they referred to Osama Bin Laden as a "dissident." Our media will apparently be unable to see truth until the shockwave from the nuke hits. Of course, then it will be too late.

JH2, when will you finally get your own show and columns? You are certainly leagues above every lefty in the media, and usually ahead of most of the sharper minds out there.
You've already got a guaranteed base of 100,000+ (FReepers plus family members) on your first day, without any advertising. =^)

the shriek host of Hardball I'm being totally superficial here but I can't tolerate the man's voice and delivery. Your words said it all for me.
Another great Two cents dissection of a fool and his illogical spew.
