On June 14, at the Ohio State University, demonstrate your opposition to the Bush Administration's undemocratic policies:
Now's your chance to show that YOU don't approve of this President
- That YOU don't approve of his reckless environmental policies or coziness with big oil.
- That YOU don't approve of a "war on terror" that includes eradicating civil liberties and investigating/monitoring innocent Americans, including legal, law abiding immigrants, without probable cause.
- That YOU don't approve of the existing American foreign policy in the middle east.
- That YOU don't approve of the administration's close ties to Enron.
- That YOU don't approve of election fraud.
And that YOU don't approve of one of the most inarticulate and divisive Presidents in American history speaking at one of the most important events in YOUR history.
Stand up for:
-the restoration of democracy -the environment -civil liberties -quality and accessible education -constructive international relations -sensible defense policies -the rule of law, NOT rule of money -women's rights -GLBT rights -disability rights -native burial rights -cultural diversity -workers' rights -living wages -social welfare
WHAT TO DO:
For starters, if you're a graduate or a guest, just remember to stand up silently and "turn your back" while Bush gives his commencement address. It's that simple.
This is a form of protest based on the principles of Satyagraha -- nonviolent noncooperation with evil -- used by the Mahatma Gandhi and later by Martin Luther King, Jr.. Please remember it is important that you stay silent and do not resist arrest even if you've done nothing wrong (the charges will most likely be dropped, it is just a convenient way to detain you). If you must sit down, turn your chair around or sit in the chair backwards, to indicate your objection to the Bush regime.
For others, spread the word. Crowds mean media attention. And we need media attention- Lots of it. Encourage everyone, your friends and family, fellow students, anyone, to participate.

Brought to you by a coalition of concerned students, graduates, alumni, faculty, staff, guests, and community members in and around the Ohio State University.
It's much easier for these ignorant, liberal brats to vent their "righteous" anger at President Bush under the protective glare of klieg lights than to put their miserable lives on the line in defense of their country against terrorists..
Bush tried to do the following:
Appoint people to vacancies in the Justice Dept, FBI, INS.
But We Progressives blocked him until 2 weeks before September 11.
The newbie at FBI didn't have time to find out what hit him.
Appoint Hispanics, Blacks, Women, diverse types to vacancies in the courts.
But We Progressives blocked him. The backlog in the courts is building.
When the court system collapses, we will have something else to blame Bush.
Return overcharge for government services to the payers of those services.
But We Progressives have delayed it into a 10 year plan that will never happen.
Explain his policies and programs in the media and public events.
But We Progressives attacked ad hominen his intelligence, guilt by association and
created an imaginary perception that most people have accepted as reality.
We Progressives must continue to block attempts by Bush to confuse people with facts.
The facts must not be allowed to get in the way of the Progressive goal to
bring down productive people to the level of the unproductive.
My thesis: Since the 'establishment' in academe is so thoroughly socialist, the way for the new generation to 'protest' is by opening their minds to conservative ideas. So the vanguard, the trendsetters, are now looking favorably on ideas of the right.
The poor saps sitting behind the people who participate in this will have their view blocked, and that isn't right. On the other hand, so be it. I don't think the protestors have calculated for the adrenaline factor of the people they've chosen to abuse in this manner, while they "make their statement". :D
They tell me that an announcement was made on sound system that anyone disrupting the peace or view of others will be asked to cease. If not, they will be arrested. Best part? After that announcement the whole stadium went up in cheers! HAHAHAHAHA!
Way to take control, Administration!
I'm going to be cheering from HERE for the President's speech, along with the OSU throngs!!
Keep us updated, OK annie?!
We happen to be at war now, as we were not in the early 90's. Can you imagine anybody doing this to FDR in, say, 1942?
He's knocking them out!! NO disruptions that I can hear.
Nothing new about this. There are millions of Christian voters out there who hate the Republicans so much they'd betray the country every day, if it would help destroy the Party. They are no different than these college loonies.
"We are commanded by God and called by our country to love our neighbors as ourselves."
How wonderful!
WONDERFUL!!!
You're right, Wphile.......the crowd is absolutely silent!
