Will Muslim Terrorists Burn the Western States?
Independent Logic | June 12, 2002 | Silas

Posted on 06/12/2002 6:24:10 AM PDT by Silas

Muslim terrorists have the capacity to set wildfires en masse and destroy a large part of the western United States. This theory was best said and first put forward by Freeper Travis McGee when he said it like this:

"Somebody had better be planning contingencies for a mass terrorist arson attack. Think of 20 arsonists setting ten fires each on a line 1000 miles long in one day. Or think of 20 Denver fires set upwind of cities on one day.

Box cutter >>> 9-11

Butane lighter >>> ??????"

We don't want to voice this concern because we are afraid that the terrorists will take up the idea. But we know that in fact they have already thought of this simple idea. By keeping our silence we are delaying an action plan to combat this idea.

We must have a plan in place in case these arsons begin. It's possible that they have already begun. We are barely out of May and already severe fires have started. This is unusual and it may be just the beginning. We must have a plan.

It is worth noting that during WWII the Japanese developed and implemented a plan to launch thousands of baloon-lifted incendiary bombs, hooked up to a simple timer. The idea was that a few of these bombs would detonate over California, based on prevailing winds. Some of the bombs did actually make it to California. The US gov. did not report any of these at the time, thus the Japanese believed that their plan failed when in fact it did not. California was saved significant fires due to a very wet season.

The point is that it is clear to any enemy that the US west is subject to arson - big time. Imagine what the Japanese would have done with a thousand spies given free run of the country.

WE MUST BE PREPARED TO DETAIN AND ENCAMP/DEPORT ALL ISLAMIC TERRORISTS AND THEIR SYMPATHIZERS. THE TIME TO PLAN IS NOW.

Some of our homegrown firebugs have been known to shoot bottlerockets out car windows while driving and not even needing to stop to start fires.A little tweak with something like paraffin would easily increase the effectiveness.

Travis,I've worried about your theory for years. It's just too easy for anyone to pull off in a number of ways.Think about what could be done with fusees and an airplane,I'm sure the terrorists have.

I've been seeing a few tie ins between the ALF-ELF types, anarchists and some of the Muslim terrorists.

Something like this could cause conflict in their mutual support and they might turn on each other.

I guess I have to look for a silver lining.:O)

Yeah, I'm sure they never saw the Denver Fire on TV. Free Republic gets MUCH wider exposure than ABCNNBCBS.

Burying our heads in the sand and hoping that terrorists would not think of flying jetliners into buildings was a great strategy for the FBI and others the last ten or so years, don't you think?

Maybe if we igore it, it will go away.

How about lightening?

Get serious. The Trade Centers weren't brought down by a big draft and some snowballs.

If you live anywhere near trees and brush, this is a major concern.

How wide were the largest fires, frontally? Do they begin to behave in different ways from "typical" forest fires that are 5 to 20 miles wide?

(The Denver fire I think is up to 50 miles wide. They are not even fighting it in front, just trying to channelize it on the sides.)

I would hope, probably beyond hope, that some of the Earth First types would get wind of such a plan and turn the right names over before the action was carried out.

It seems like about every nut group in the world is tied to each other in some way when all the different links are followed.

Not going to happen. The islamic insane death cultists who pull something like this will just be ten or 20 friends from a mosque in San Diego or Denver out on a weekend field trip.

You're right but I could see even fewer getting the job done with just a little thought put into it.

There are way too many ways to cause major destruction in the U.S. without a lot of money, special equipment, training or even half a brain.

I saw pictures of trees that appeared to be 150-200 or more feet tall in flame from the bottom to the top -- really impressive!  For comparison sake, I seem to recall that a Eucalyptus (bluegum) is more flammable than a Pine tree.

One idea for limiting the arson potential would be to suppress reporting of weather conditions that would be favorable to arsonists. The weather forecasts -- which come straight from a national agency if I'm not mistaken and are simply read to us by nice looking reporters as if they are their own predictions -- should be considered strategic military information. This is in fact what this information is.

I do not want to see any cutsie reporters reading a teleprompter telling me -- and all of the terrorists we have living comfortably in the US -- that over the next few days we will have strong Santa Ana winds. It's a shame that we are at this point of restricting weather forecasts but here we are. We have to deal with this.

Of course, I am certain that the government will never acknowledge terrorist arsons. They will say that the blaze is 'under investigation' but ultimately they will never say the word 'arson' or 'terrorist', just as they never use the word 'bomb' when a plane explodes in mid-air. But if we discuss this issue now, calmly before it happens, we can help to develop an action plan in the event that it does happen.

Not only will the met data NOT be restricted, I have no doubt that someone could call the US Forest Service with a thick Arabic accent and claim to be a "student doing research" and get advanced wind, forest risk, fire model data etc etc.
