A program on homosexuality geared toward children will air next week on Nickelodeon, drawing criticism from parents seeking to prevent its placement on the cable-TV network for children.

Called "Nick News Special Edition: My Family Is Different," the program will focus on families that have at least one homosexual parent.

Does anyone know how to e-mail a complaint to these people? I only let my daughter watch Sponge Bob and The Rugrats as the rest of their shows are too old for her and the language is questionable. Maybe we'll have to put a block on this channel if they are going to air this kind of garbage!

By the way, if you click the "Print This Article" button, you get a much better page from which to copy the source code for posting here (in my opinion).

"It's not about sex"

How can a show about same-sex and Homosexual parents not be about "sex"?

The whole debate here is about sex and who one chooses to do it with and whether or not we should be nice to those that do those things differently then you. But it is fundamentally about sex.

Miss Ellerbee said through a spokesman. "If we're saying gay people deserve tolerance and respect, we're also saying that people are entitled to their own opinions. This is not a show about how one knows he or she is gay. It's not about sex, and it does not tell you what to think."

This is the biggest load of crap I've heard in a long time. What she's really saying is, of course, that people can have any number of different opinions on the subject--but that only tolerant, intelligent, and progressive people share our opinions on homosexuality.

My husband and I called our cable company and complained about this propaganda trash-- we WERE avid Nickelodeon and TV Land watchers until this. This is such an obvious case of propaganda from the media elite in New York.

........people are entitled to their own opinions........

Yes, Ms. Ellerbee. People ARE entitled to their opinion...............children are not. Children are children, and need to be taught their opinion from their parents.

Why do people pay good money every month to have raw sewage pumped into their living room?

I gave up TV just about completely a few years ago (all but Red Wings games), and I don't miss it one bit. Our kids don't miss it, either. They're much more creative and interesting than their lobotomized TV-addict friends. It's a big world out there, and there's a lot more time do to things when you're not sitting inert for hours at a time being hypnotized by big brother.

Not for a while, actually. All we have are the cats--and like I say, Rocket J prefers Limbaugh and Hannity, and the raptors are usually too busy hunting milk-tabs.

The sick-making thing of this is that we have friends (quasi-liberals) who don't let their kids watch ultra-violent cartoons like, ohh...the Powerpuff Girls, but this show would be (no pun intended) right up their alley because of its (in)tolerance quotient.

The hubby and I had little luck with the cable company, as an amendment to my earlier post, as he was transferred from voice mail box to voice mail box at TWC. When he called Viacom, the same thing happened.

You'd think that a business would be concerned at the prospect of losing paying customers--but I guess if enough of their other customers are docile sheeple, I guess they can afford to lose a few dissidents.

Bravo for you!

I plan on doing the same thing when we have children. In my humble opinion, T.V. is one of the largest factors in the demise of our culture. About the only times that I watch T.V. is for the weather reports, traffic reports, headlines on the local news, and the occasional Seinfeld show (for adults, by the way!).

It's amazing how my generation, the 30-something's, have let T.V., video games, and computers control their lives, then wonder why their kids are messed up.

.......raw sewage pumped into their living room........

Thinking back to my youth (late 50's, early 60's)..........I wasn't even allowed to watch TV during the weekdays. My parents had me concentrate on my homework during these days.

"This is a show about families, diversity, respect and tolerance," Miss Ellerbee said through a spokesman. "If we're saying gay people deserve tolerance and respect, we're also saying that people are entitled to their own opinions."

Wait a second, folks. NOBODY deserves MY respect. EVERYBODY must EARN my respect!

This is a faulty premise that gives them more than half the rope in the the tug-of-war. I don't respect anyone until they have earned it.
