MC-130 Air Force plane crashed on take-off. It is a Special Operations plane used to transport troops in and out of forward areas. Believe it has 10-15 troops. No indication of any casualities one way or the other according to CNN. Reports are just coming into the Pentagon according to Jamie McIntyre.

US Military Aircraft Down in Afghanistan

June 12, 2002 03:18 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. military four-engine MC-130 special operations aircraft crashed on takeoff from a base in Afghanistan on Wednesday but there was no immediate word on casualties, a U.S. defense official said.

The official, who asked not to be identified, said initial reports indicated the turboprop "Combat Talon" aircraft was carrying between 10 and 15 people, including the crew, when it went down shortly after taking off from a combat base near Gardez about 80 miles southwest of the capital, Kabul.

The official said there was no indication enemy fire was involved in the crash and that rescue teams had not yet reached the crash site.

I hope this is just an accident, but they've been finding SAM's outside of a lot of places our troops are stationed in recent months. Here's prayers for our troops!!
