Should Homosexuals Be Ordained? [The poll question the media is afraid to ask]

Should Homosexuals Be Ordained Priests?

Although the Catholic Church is not a democracy, the media loves to poll Catholics and non-Catholics concerning the beliefs of the Catholic Church. And so, we frequently read stories about how many Catholics disagree with the Church's teaching on contraception, abortion, or divorce.

Another popular polling question for the media is whether or not priests should be married or should be women.

However, despite the monumental ongoing scandal concerning priests homosexually raping teenage boys, the media refuses to ask the most important question: Should homosexuals be ordained priests?

The media does not ask this question for a very simple reason. The overwhelming majority of people agree with the 1961 directive from the Vatican, homosexuals are not suitable candidates for the priesthood.

Quite simply, the media does not ask whether homosexuals should be ordained, because it already knows that 90% or 95% of the public support the Vaticans position. Of course, 90% to 95% of the media, believe homosexuals should be ordained and are delighted to see the destruction they have caused to date.

Should homosexuals be ordained priests? ...and that might get people thinking about other embarrassing questions, like "should homosexuals be teachers?" or "should homosexuals be scout leaders?"....

And again, the response from the general public would be overwhelmingly..."NO!" And so, the questions are not asked.

The media uses polls to shape opinion, not to report news.

Very simple put... Homosexuals should not be ordained and the Catholic Church should purge all priests, Cardinals, Bishops that have allowed any touching or molestation to happen. The local authorities should pursue any and all cases and prosecute accordingly. There are people that say that Satan has entered the church and yes they are right and they are molesting and ruin children's lives. Just because they are priests they are not above The Law and they should be placed in jail. If the church has to downsize so be it, but better to downsize the chuch than to ruin a child and Pope John Paul should sieze this and do accordingly.

There should be no conference of Bishops to release a statement... It should be self evident from Christ himself.

As a Catholic myself, I am beginning to realize that the freedoms we enjoy in these United States mimic those of the puritans that refused to be beholden to Rome. In the current crisis of the Church, the bureaucay is way to evident and that scares me.

Spot on, Diago.

Mary, Queen of All Saints, pray for us.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Lady of All Nations, pray for us.

Hearty BUMP!

I watched Cardinal Bevilacqua on EWTN tonight, and I could not believe how terrible his performance was. I have always loved Cardinal Bevilacqua - but this was like watching his evil twin or a space alien having taken over his body.

Clearly all of the bishops and cardinals have been given talking points that make them sound like DNC apparatchiks or like Janet Reno, "We're doing it for the children."

Should I here one more bishop or cardinal say that the Dallas meeting is not for discussing "anything else" (read: homosexuality) it is just for ensuring the protection of children -- I may .... fast and pray even more.

Siobhan's mood about the bishops and cardinals= BANSHEE

The fact that this issue is NOT on the schedule for discussion in Dallas foretells that the bishops have absolutely no intention of even addressing the roots of the problem, let alone fixing the problem.

The Dallas meeting therefore is preordained to failure, and the bishops are condemning the RCC in America to self destruction, unless the orthodox laity are miraculously able to organize and fight this rot with some tool or method that we do not yet foresee. IMHO.

I'm not Catholic, so I have no sway in Catholic church policies whether it be on homosexual priests or priesthood celibacy. I'll let Catholics battle out their issues. Plus I try to stay clear of religious discussions, especially on this forum.

Having said that, and having been pinged here, my opinion on this particular topic is...no, they should not be ordained. For what it's worth.

I am beginning to think that the answer is for us to change rites and all become Chaldean, Melkite, or Maronite-rite. The Maronite and Chaldean clergy I know are outstanding men of God as are their bishops.

Now isn't that a totally wild thought: Irish-American Catholic mother of seven as a Maronite..... Well, I'd rather be with the faithful than with the devil's minyan. And I don't want to go to the schismatics. But I will not remain in the Latin-rite if our bishops continue to betray us and the Vatican does not intervene.

We have many Byzantine Catholic churches here. I'm seriously considering becoming a Latin refugee in the eastern tradition. And it would solve sacramental problems for us homeschoolers. Our Bishop Adamec delays confirmation till 11th grade (teenagers need the grace of confirmation at or well before puberty, not long after it!) and refuses to confirm homeschooled kids whose parents opt them out of the mandatory prerequisite touchy feely warm and fuzzy confirmation classes and mandatory co-ed overnight confirmation retreats. The Byzantine give the sacramental "Grand Slam" at Baptism.
