Focus on the Family Sponsors National Conference on Homosexuality in Kansas City Amidst Warnings of Opposition To: State Desk Contact: Julie Neils or David Gasak of Focus on the Family, 719-548-4634

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- As Americans grapple with gay adoption, same-sex marriage and pro-homosexual curriculum in public schools, Focus on the Family makes its seventeenth city stop in Kansas City to host a one-day symposium designed to help the public navigate the myths clouding the issue of homosexuality. "Love Won Out" is the only conference of its kind and will take place June 22 at Pleasant Valley Church in Liberty, Mo.

"From gay characters on television to 'diversity' training in the work place, the issue of homosexuality is constantly in the media and touches almost every part of our lives today," says John Paulk, "Love Won Out" host and manager of the Homosexuality and Gender Department at Focus on the Family. "Many in Kansas City are troubled by the one-sided message they are hearing and have invited us to share another perspective."

Paulk adds, "Focus on the Family believes in offering a choice to those who desire it. Unfortunately, many who have struggled out of homosexuality have been subjected to ridicule, vitriolic attacks and even death threats for sharing this option with others. Even in Kansas City we are expecting protests, but we will continue to offer hope to families who have been devastated by homosexuality and to the individuals who feel trapped by it. We welcome anyone to our conference who is interested in hearing this side of the story."

Dr. James Dobson, president of Focus on the Family, says knowing the truth about homosexuality is crucial for families. "Deception runs deep on the issue of homosexuality. That's why we're urging the public to come hear a side of the story that is often silenced or derided. Our children's well-being is at stake."

"Love Won Out" is primarily led by former homosexuals who are experts in the field of gender identity. They will address topics such as the clinical development of homosexuality; the relationship between homosexuality and genetics; the pro-homosexual agenda in public schools; homosexual recovery; and the responsibility of Christians to offer an appropriate, compassionate response to the homosexual community. Special sessions for teachers, pastors and parents will be available. Local ministries and organizations also will offer resources.

More than 11,800 individuals have attended Focus on the Family's 16 national "Love Won Out" conferences since the event's inception in 1998. Recent regional conferences were held in Cincinnati, Ohio; Atlanta, Ga.; Orlando, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Phoenix, Ariz.

Finally, for the first time, Dr. Dobson has warned parents to get their children OUT of the public schools now - before it's too late. That was in response to the news that California has approved elementary school teachers "coming out" to their students and engaging grade schoolers in discussions on gender, sexual orientation, and "tolerance", and, of course, encouraging them to "explore" their feelings.

Kudos for Dr. D!

If all those who claim to be Bible-believing Christians would take their children out of the government indoctrination system - it would collapse overnite.
