Well with Stalin we should have put Patton's plan into effect take the remaining German troops( excluding Gestapo, Einstatzgruppen, SS deaths head division, field police and other war criminals ) after they surrendered put them under allied command and then marched right to Moscow as Patton wanted.

...and I think most of them would have been happy to go, for that is what they thought they were fighting for in the first place. Very few rank and file were idealogues.

Exactly. I thought I was the only one left who thought that. Isn't it strange that Eisenhower became president and is a national hero (and rightfully so) but Patton is buried in Europe (Belgium if I'm not mistaken). If it wasn't for the movie Patton would be a virtual unknown to people who don't read about WWII.
