The chastisement is spoken of by saints, mystics, and by recent visionaries. Sometimes it is tied to the idea of Three Days of Darkness.

Colleen, I know nothing about Carol Ameche, but I found this link:

http://206.97.145.2/giftstor/AmecheIntro.html

I link to it for us to review and learn about her and her alleged apparitions. I cannot find any approval for her visions by her bishop, but I did find a letter that said the Diocese of Phoenix was not aware of her messages and wasn't investigating here. That would normally be an odd thing, but then again Tom O'Brien is the bishop.

Ironically, Bishop Galante is now being offered to the media as a spokesman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting in Dallas starting today. Galante, who refuses to crack down on the chat group -- accusing its exposer of "mortal sin" for invading the porn-group's privacy -- is even a canon lawyer and member of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse.

UNBELIEVABLE! A member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse? God help us!

Recent events certainly give credibility to this prediction:

Message which Our Lady has given to the world through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel. The angel said, "Since my message of October 18 has not been made known to the world and has not been fulfilled, I tell you that this is my last message. Previously, the cup was being filled. Now it is overflowing. Many Cardinals, many Bishops and many Priests are on the road to perdition and with them they are bringing many souls. The Holy Eucharist is being given less importance (honor). We must avoid God's anger with us by our efforts at amendment. If we beg pardon with sincerity of soul, He will forgive us. I, your Mother, through the intercession of St. Michael the Archangel, want to tell you to amend your lives. You are already receiving one of the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation. Ask sincerely and we will give to you. You should make more sacrifices. Think of the Passion of Jesus."

Thanks Siobhan! I am very wary of these visionaries and seers, but I do like to check them out. There are usually grains of truth in all of the messages, but I generally keep with Lourdes and Fatima.

I was spelling "Ameche" wrong when I checked the Internet. Duh! Thanks again!

My former neighbor underwent a major conversion, following a visit to Medjugorje. She later aligned herself with this group of believers. Her home looked like a shrine ... no, it looked more like a religious goods store. The neighbors kept their distance, except for me. Her conversion was so dramatic! Two years ago, she sold her home and moved to Emmitsburg, believing that this was where the BVM wanted her to go.

Same with my mother, down to the house like a religious goods store. She moved to western Mass. to a like minded community (because Jesus told her to do that) and she is waiting with bottled water and canned goods for the end of the world (since 1986). I don't think she stocks Koolaid, so I'm not that worried. She didn't have a conversion though, she was already religious when she went to Medjugorje, that just put her over the edge.

Thanks Siobhan. My priest is rather gruff and hard to talk with, this was actually my first real conversation with him. He was through Korea and Vietnam, so he is not a "touchy-feely" kind of guy, he's very worldly and knowledgeable.

He called Bishop Bruskewitz "medieval and oppressive," just so you know where he is coming from.

Any advice would be welcomed!

We just happen to use the same buildings as the schismatics.

I never had that thought cross my mind until today - you are right.

Ash him if he means early medieval, high medieval or later medieval. Bishop B. is actually a counterreformation type who knws a sewer when he smells it. It encourages me to know that the counterreformation was never more than partly successful and that the reforming bishops usually had more trouble with immoral priests than with heretical ones.

But I do know that several seers have taught that there will be a world wide interior sign where everyone will see their sins and who they are in God's eyes.

I think some have referred to it as the illumination, or warning. I used to read some of the different "seers" messages, but now that I found a Parish with a good and holy Priest, and spunky Deacon who kick our butts with their take no prisoners homilies, and stress Catholic moral teaching, the Sacraments, reverence, and an awesome Mass, I no longer have the need for them. I think that for me, the seers provided hope that soon God would zap all the apostates into holiness or hell. I just was worn out waiting for it to happen. I was just worn out fighting with Priests who thought the tabernacle should be relegated to the Sacristy, that liturgical dancers were cool, that not confronting Sin was pastoral, that if they said artificial contraception or abortion were contrary to Catholic teaching, they would alienate parishioners.

It is so wonderful to be in a Parish where people sometimes weep during the Consecration, not because of how awful and irreverent the Mass is, but because it is so awesome and beautiful.

Thanks Robby! I do not believe this priest is immoral, "only" slightly heretical. Maybe I'll save my pennies and send him a bunch of nice books by Peter Kreeft, Thomas Howard and MICHAEL S. ROSE.

Very funny line! But very true.

Yikes, I wasn't trying to be a comedian. I used to weep a lot when Jesus was abandoned on the Altar for the extended Schmoozathon known as the Rite of Peace. He, for whom every knee should bend, was forgotten as the Priest would leave the altar, and tromp all over, as would everyone else with small talk about the new car, the garden, a party. Once they even passed out avocadoes during the right of peace..(Sockmonkey shudders remembering those dark days)

I know you weren't trying to be funny, but it struck such a familiar chord with me that I just had to laugh cause sometimes I feel like crying when I see things like you describe. One of my pet peeves is the sneakers on the altar girls and boys.
