DALLAS, Texas, June 13, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Two Dallas-area priests who joined a homosexual pornographic website with naked pictures and discussion of sexual encounters with men and boys, endorsed attacks on Pope John Paul II and Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, head of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
One of the priests, Fr. Cliff Garner, 36, described his passion for a young Latin American youth minister, and praised a liberal dissident homosexual South African auxiliary bishop, Reginald Cawcutt, for his attacks on Vatican authorities: "You are doing God's work," Garner claimed, "and because of that - you and the rest of us will be beaten and crucified - but we will rise!!!! Peace be with you!!"
Father Garner's email was dated April 14, 2000 and released to the Washington Times by an orthodox Catholic who joined the website to keep tabs on the destructive dialogue. In a November 1999 message from Cape Town about "Ratzinger and other minor problems," Bishop Cawcutt wrote: "Hi guys, kill him? pray for him?" He earlier said of the pope's June 1999 visit to Poland: "Talking about the Vatican - JP is in Poland at the mo - mebbe he will die there? I shall listen to the news broadcasts in hope!"
Fr. Garner and fellow chat-group member Fr. Art Mallinson of Lancaster, Texas were allowed to continue at their parishes even though Bishop Joseph A. Galante and the diocese's chancellor, Mary Edlund, were told of their activities more than three years ago, according to documents obtained by the Times.
Ironically, Bishop Galante is now being offered to the media as a spokesman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting in Dallas starting today. Galante, who refuses to crack down on the chat group -- accusing its exposer of "mortal sin" for invading the porn-group's privacy -- is even a canon lawyer and member of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse.

Watching him in the podium during the debate on norms was almost more than I could bear. He is a terrible person and a dreadful bishop.
Write the Pope and beg him to promote Galante to an obscure post in Madagascar.....
So Siobhan, tell us how you really feel....

I also have a feeling that this meeting of the US Conference of Bishops won't solve a thing. The Conference itself has been part of the problem ever since it was founded. But I am hopeful that before this business is over things get better.
Who is a fine man. He should not be confused with these other fools.
I just came from my parish to do a hand out before the 5 PM Mass, we (me and the my two children) handed out Father's Day St. Joseph "smelly trees" for the father's cars. I got to talk at length to my priest as we were there very early. He told me that he thinks we need to pull away from Rome as they are too "far away" from us and they have the gaul to try and tell us Americans that we cannot do the translation of the Litergy that will be used here in the USA. THIS IS SO SCARY! I told him I did not agree with him and that IMO, I think we should pull closer to Rome as the problems the AmChurch has, again IMO, sprung from dissention. I was stunned as I can now see how there can be a possible schism.
I have to say that he did introduce me to a wonderful woman and told me that I should talk to her as she agrees with how I think. So, the day turned into a blessing as I learned a few things from this woman and now I do not feel so isolated in my parish.
This woman told me that we are all to receive a sign from our Lord - at the same time - and it will show us our sins and show us how the Lord sees us. That will either drive people to church or away. She told me to look up a visionary named (female) Ameci who is Don Ameci's daughter - anyone else hear of this chastisement or the visionary?
She also told me that there is a call to have the Pope step down and be replaced and if that happens, the next Pope is the anti-Pope. Apparently, according to her, the movement is strong.
She was referring to the Apparitions of the BVM at Garabandal. The church has not yet taken a stance on these, however, as with other apparitions, there is a huge group of people who believe the messages.
My former neighbor underwent a major conversion, following a visit to Medjugorje. She later aligned herself with this group of believers. Her home looked like a shrine ... no, it looked more like a religious goods store. The neighbors kept their distance, except for me. Her conversion was so dramatic! Two years ago, she sold her home and moved to Emmitsburg, believing that this was where the BVM wanted her to go.
The Apparitions speak of - The Warning (when everyone around the world will suddenly see their souls. Many will not survive this experience; others will line up at confessionals). This will be followed by The Miracle - a permanent reminder. (one of the visionaries knows the date and will announce it one week before it takes place.) Next comes the Chastisement. You can learn more about this at:
ST. MICHAEL'S GARABANDAL CENTER at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
We just happen to use the same buildings as the schismatics.
This is a sad day indeed.
Never with any of my help!
