I feel your pain.

It really should be "nation first" for all of us--and nation first for the benefit of our descendants. I surely can't argue with that!
To: sneakypete
This the longest goodbye since the first Sinatra one.
To: Senator Pardek
I cry for this Nation, and for Humanity. Me too,but I see no way of avoiding it. We are dealing now with a group of people who are divorced from reality and ruled by insane leaders. By the time the enorminity of what they have brought on themselves is obvious,it will be too late for them to do anything but die.

Mr./Ms. Moderator, you guys should compile about 400 pages of this stuff from various posters. You'd shoot to number 1 on the NYT bestseller's list and never have to have a freepathon again. Now that's the best idea I've heard in a while! It could be called: FreeRepublic.com: Excerps From 1,000 Discussions From 1996-2002.

No. The terrorists are dispersed into the populations of a number of civilian populations throughout the world. ROFLMAO! Uhhh, where do you think the financing and planning for all this comes from? Any idea at all? Here is a hint. Find out the country bin Laden is from, and where the vast majority of the 9-11 hijackers were from.
It's a good thing our President isn't so simple.<./I>
Then again,Scooby-Do probably seems like a intellectual giant to you.

Do you suppose that doesnotmatter used to be wasfree, and he couldn't stand lurking here any longer without putting his two cents in? I got here too late to see his stuff, so I don't know if he sounded the same or not.

Are you misunderstanding me or am I misunderstanding you? Looks like I misunderstood your original post. My apologies!
To: sneakypete
Who would you get to explain it to you? LOL...
To: Lazamataz, Demidog, Jim Robinson
For example, Padilla may be held indefinitely without being charged until the U.S.-declared war against terrorism ends, said John McGinnis. ~~ Do you ever expect the war on terror to end? That war on drugs will give you an idea when it will end.According to the Charges in question, Padilla determined to detonate a radiological bomb, potentially killing hundreds of Americans and radiation-poisoning hundreds... even thousands... more.
If true, he should be shot... at the very least. This is MASS MURDER we are talking about; shooting is too good for him.
I just want to know:
- Is he a TRAITOR? Do we legitimately ask questions first, and shoot him later?
- Or is he an ENEMY COMBATANT? Do we legitimately shoot first, and ask questions later?
I'm all in favor of shooting the Mass Murderer, I am just vaguely curious as to under which protocol he is to be shot.
Traitor? Enemy Combatant? What's the Protocol? ARE THERE ANY protocols? Are we making this up as we go? I'm honestly at a loss here.

American taxpayers are being forced to subsidize their own displacement - on a scale not seen since 1532, when Hispanic immigrant Francisco Pizarro made the Inca fill an entire room with gold. I wonder how the Bush-Bots are going to try to spin this? At any rate,I suspect they may be fewer in number by tomorrow.

Looks like I misunderstood your original post. My apologies! No problem. Glad we're on the same page after all.

If true, he should be shot... He's being questioned at this point. Good thing that our administration isn't made of simple-minded zealots.

Good thing that our administration isn't made of simple-minded zealots. "This is a crusade..."

And we don't merely "question" Traitors, either.... We Legally Try them first, and THEN we shoot them.
Is he a Citizen Traitor, or an Enemy Combatant?
As far as I am concerned, "Hanoi Jane" should've been considered an "Enemy Combatant" the moment she started running an NVA flak battery... guess what, Jane, you are behind enemy lines, shooting at American Pilots!! You are an enemy combatant!! Take your chances, and sleep in the bed you have made.
I would be 100% okay with that Protocol.
What's the Protocol here? Do we HAVE one? Are we making this up as we go?
To: Demidog
Yes?

We don't merely "question" Enemy Combatants... we shoot them. He's being questioned. By experts, not fanatics.

We should at least afford this American Citizen with the notice of charges. The Patriot Act was allegedly only to apply to foreign nationals. That's what the administration claimed it wanted (and it is bizarre that the Bush Administration claims it got what it wanted even though the bill was passed hours after the attacks and so quickly that no Senator or Congressman was even able to
read the bill). Unless of course it had been written so far in advance that the Administration had read it even if Congress had not.
They either wrote it themselves and had it waiting for just such an occassion, or somebody else did. Who?

By experts, not fanatics. "You're either with us or you're against us."
