When you say "to be honest" does that mean everything else you've said up until now has been dishonest?

Pssst ... you might want to keep a tighter lid on your ability to seize on the unspoken truth, Freud Friend.

The State of Israel is a highly charged topic as a rule, you know. We wouldn't want to ratchet the potential for ugly emotion-based arguments by making anyone jealous of your analytical prowess.

I was unaware Mexico was sending suicide bombers into the US. Is that relevant?

Do you think we've got the wherewithal to take back our sovereign territory in Panama if circumstances deem it necessary?

In a word, "HELL no."

What is just and unjust about Israel's actions? I believe they tried in good faith to negotiate a settlement of the issue. They made a very good offer at Camp David and it was later even improved upon at Taba and Sharm el Shiek. All of them were rejected.

To favor a return to the pre 1967 border is to consent to the ethnic cleansing that occurred in Jerusalem in 1948 when Jordan kicked out the Jewish majority of the city. And in that sense, it was absurd for the UN to not recognize Jerusalem as an Israeli city because it did house a majority of Jews -- which had held for centuries before.

I agree with you.

Contrary to the assertions of some, "the occupation" is not illegal. Occupation is perfectly legitimate according to international law. It is codified in the Geneva convention.

It's the settlement part and the annexing part that may be contrary the Geneva convention. But these are only applicable regarding sovereign states. The Israel position is that Palestine is not a sovereign state, and never has been one, therefore their actions of settlement building and "annexations" are legal under international law.

Actually the best job of dehumanizing the Palestinians is done by the Palestinians.

Isn't it an un-Berlin, or non-Berlin, wall? It is to keep people out, not keep people in.

Let's hope that that "fence" is just some planning markers for the real fence. And this talk of the "Berlin Wall" is ridiculous - perhaps in the utopian future, both Israelis and Palestinians can tear it down, but for now, no dice.

Was it a part of the UN's Divine intervention and partition or not

Jordan renounced "ownership" of the West Bank in the mid 1980's. It is disputed territory. Period.

It works for me

Well, that's just it. It works for everyone, right?

He who controls the Terror controls the world, comrade.

Everyone's at the mercy of Terror and -- with just the right pressures applied -- everyone can be muscled into seeing things the Terrorist Sponsor's way as a result ... particularly where the fudging of heretofore "self-evident" truths and Constitutional liberties are concerned.

I think we're being had. As they said from the beginning: the Revolution does not make sense without Terror. I think if you go to the source of the Terror Internationale's sponsorship it all begins to make sense.

Perhaps instead of making all sorts of empty excuses for our being sucked into the Golden Triangle's vortex that was Viet Nam, we should have paid more attention to the terrorist camps in Cuba set in motion by the Tri-Continental Conference of '67 (oops, were you watching Israel's action that year instead?).

It's bad enough we let Cuba be used as a Soviet/Chicom launchpad to Latin America ... almost inconceivable we allowed them to set up shop training their Terrorist Internationale there.

Perhaps that Gitmo fence gave us a false sense of Security, eh?

Chomsky is a COMMUNIST, btw - If I'm not mistaken. America would have PRE-EMPTED ANY ATTACK, as did Israel. Israel was justified.

The borders between the USA and Mexico are determined and codified by treaty between our two nations.

Believe me, I am giving a lot of thought to your posts. You raise good questions for me to think about.

And in that sense, it was absurd for the UN to not recognize Jerusalem as an Israeli city because it did house a majority of Jews -- which had held for centuries before.

As a Catholic, I want Constantinople back. You think I'll get it? =)

Frankly, monkeyshine, I don't think for a moment that either the UN or the "Zionists" among Britain and the US's Anglophile elite really cared about the Jews any more than the North really cared about slaves ... particularly those above the Mason-Dixon line.

I'm a little cynical, I guess.

Thanks for your posts.

Yes, I realize he's tainted as a leftist somehow. But that's all I really know ... to be honest.

Begin was a TERRORIST, btw.

The universal rule is that one can justly use violence against terrorists that are targeting your civilian population, and otherwise secure your borders, or expanded borders if necessary and if the area of expansion is a nest of such terrorists, all to the extent necessary to cause it all to stop. It works for me.

We, the U.S., have attacked civilian populations beyond our borders in Serbia, Iraq, Columbia, Panama, Grenada, San Salvador, Vietnam, Korea, etc. with no attack on us or our borders. We are being invaded by Mexico and the response from the Bush administration is to make the invaders citizens.

I think it is time to renounce our role as globocop and the worldwide hate it generates. George Washington advised us in his Farewell Address to beware of foreign entanglements. The time has long passed for us to listen to his wisdom.

Hey ... I AGREE ENTIRELY that no one does a better job of dehumanizing themselves than the Palestinians.

This is part and parcel, however, of my belief that they are mere pawns conditioned (primarily with Fear and Hate) by the radicals who use them as a pigskin to punt up and down the field as suits their purposes.
