Islam: The Religion of Poverty The greatest gift of Islam to its followers is poverty. All Islamic countries with the exception of those that have oil are poor.Hey! That's my line. I've been banging on this one for at least 2 years. Turkey is the exception.

Turkey is not exactly rolling in green. It's per capita income is $6800. The world average is $7200. Libya's is surprisingly high at $8900.
